Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard happy to peak at the right time – Cricket news
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians' hard-hitting batsman and the Man of the Match of 2013 IPL final, Kieron Pollard was happy that he peaked when it mattered the most in the recently concluded sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, which his side finished as the ruling champions.
After opting to bat first, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754 hit an explosive 60 not out off just 32 balls to help his side post a respectable total of 148 for 9 from 20 overs. When asked what his feelings were when he came to bat with the side struggling at 52/4, the West Indian pinch hitter said that there was nothing much going on in his mind and he just wanted to focus on his game.
“Nothing much was going on in my mind when wickets were tumbling. I just wanted to focus on my game. I just wanted to back myself and my ability,” said the 26-year-old Trinidad all-rounder while speaking to media reporters after the 23-run title clinching win over Chennai Super Kings.
“I know what the team needed from me at that point in time. These are the games that you have to win for your franchise and thank God it came off and we actually won!” added Pollard, who smashed seven fours and three sixes during his match-changing knock of 60 not out.
The Trinidadian also admitted that he enjoyed his rivalry with compatriot http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Twenty20 League. Pollard further said that Bravo brings out the best in him.
Dwayne Bravo, meanwhile, clinched the Purple Cap of the season, for picking up the maximum number of scalps in the league. The West Indian returned with 32 wickets from 18 matches, at an impressive bowling average of 15.53.
“Thanks to the fans for supporting us. Congrats to Mumbai. Both teams are the best sides in the tournament, unfortunately we couldn't finish well,” said a disappointed Bravo after the match.
He also credited Sharma and company for playing good cricket, and vowed to come back strongly next year.
