Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar they know value of Kieron Pollard – IPL news
Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar has nothing but praise for his team’s foreign player from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Kieron Pollard.
Tendulkar tags the cricketer as an inspiring figure in the field and considers him a great asset for the team.
The batting legend says that the side is fully aware of Pollard’s capabilities and acknowledged his power hitting in the match against Kings XI Punjab. The West Indian played a cameo of 20 runs off just 11 deliveries which included two massive sixes. Despite
this belligerent knock, Tendulkar feels his side was 20 odd runs short of what they should have achieved.
Tendulkar was pleased with the ground fielding and believes Harbhajan Singh was the one who gave them a good start and others just had to follow his lead.
The captain of Mumbai Indians also added that it was just the beginning and hoped that there are more to come from Pollard and Andrew Symonds.
The Mumbai skipper said, “Bhajji (Harbhajan) gave us a good start and the others carried on. Today Pollard struck some big sixes that is what is he capable of. Symmo (Symonds) is capable as well, and I am sure there is more to come. Pollard is brilliant
in the field. We all know the value of having him.”
Pollard powered his side to a win against Punjab and was adjudged the Man of the Match in the game for his all-round performance. Apart from scoring quickly, the all-rounder bowled quite economically as well and took one wicket. He also took two outstanding
catches as Punjab lost the game by 23 runs.
Pollard was content with his performance and says that top order batsmen made things easy for him. The West Indian cricketer said, “Been a long time since I have come up and actually done something for the team. Guys at the top of the order have been doing
the job for us. Today I backed myself to do well.”
After prevailing over Punjab, Mumbai Indians are now topping the Indian Premier League table with 6 wins from 8 matches. Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, have slipped down to the bottom of table and are just above Pune Warriors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
In pursuit of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918 was devastated after the loss and said his side should have chased down the total after their bowlers restricted Mumbai Indians to 160. He reckons that all batsmen
need to step up if they want to be a major threat to oppositions as they have been expecting too much from Shaun Marsh.
Mumbai Indians hosts Pune Warriors next on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab will go up against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, May 6 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
