Mumbai Indians defeat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils by 32 runs – IPL 4 Update
The ever strong Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Daredevils convincingly by 32 runs in the 49th Indian Premier League match on May 7.
The strong Mumbai batting line-up was the main reason behind their outclass performance on the day which was backed by their bowlers, resulting in a superb victory for the side.
Delhi won the toss and chose to field first. The Indians got a wonderful start to their innings as openers Sachin Tendulkar and in particular http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aiden-Blizzard-c958 batted with great determination and confidence against the opposition. For the opening wicket, 50
runs were put up on the score sheet.
Tendulkar was clean bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601 for 14 runs out of which 12 runs were scored from boundaries. Blizzard played a lightning fast innings of 37 runs from 23 deliveries which included eight boundaries, until he was sent back to the pavilion by Shahbaz
Nadeem. This left Mumbai at 54 for 2 in 6.6 overs.
The partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ambati-Rayudu-c1007 and Rohit Sharma anchored Mumbai’s innings. These two players batted with such command and ease that the opposition seemed helpless against their wrath. The duo added 87 runs to the score card which reached 141 runs
before Sharma was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722 for just one short of his half century. His innings consisted of two fours and three sixes.
Rayudu, the star of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 for the match, made a total of 59 runs from just 39 deliveries with seven fours and two maximums until James Hopes picked him up in the 19th over as the total on the board was 172 runs.
Eventually the scoring books for Mumbai were shut at a final score of 178 with the loss of four wickets in the complete 20 overs. Kieron Pollard and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 remained not out for nine runs and four runs respectively.
In reply, Delhi was straight away put on the back foot by the superb Mumbai bowling display. The team lost four of their top order batsmen for as low as seven runs on the board. First to go was David Warner who was given out leg before wicket to Harbhajan
Singh for a single run. Colin Ingram followed him, clean bowled by Lasith Malinga for one run. Next to go was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naman-Ojha-c2057 also became a victim at the hands of Patel for a
single run.
The partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Venugopal-Rao-c2752 and James Hopes provided the Daredevils with a ray of hope after being in a deep pit once their top batsmen failed to deliver. These two batted with great responsibility to add 87 runs to the score card.
When the score board reached 94 runs, Rao was clean bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dhawal-Kulkarni-c1367 for 37 runs. He dispatched four boundaries and a six. Hopes continued to bat alongside Irfan Pathan until the score card reached 123 runs. Hopes was run out for 55 runs from 44
deliveries with 10 fours to his name.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yogesh-Nagar-c98297 could not contribute even a single run to the score board for Delhi as he was given out to Harbhajan’s brilliant bowling. This left the Daredevils at 123 for 7 in 16.6 overs. Pathan was dismantled by Malinga after he had scored 23 precious runs
for the Daredevils.
Morne Morkel was dismissed by Pollard for 10 runs while Pollard also got rid of Shahbaz Nadeem to completely seal the fate of Delhi at a final total of 146 runs all out in 19.5 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajit-Agarkar-c972 remained not out for 7 runs.
This marked a tremendous 32 runs victory for Mumbai. Rayudu was announced the Man of the Match for his exciting knock that certainly provided the Indians with some great momentum at the time.
