Anderson revealed that the English side always had the self belief to upset the Indians but the urge to prove their critics wrong is what gave them further motivation. After losing the first Test at Ahmedabad, England fought back hard in the second game
to earn a massive 10-wicket win in their campaign to conquer the final frontier.
“The confidence was always there, we just slipped up in the first innings at Ahmedabad, which cost us the game. We performed much better in the second innings there and that gave us more confidence moving forward to Mumbai,” said Anderson.
“The fact is we really wanted to prove a point as well. It was quite easy for everyone to say we were going to lose 4-0 after that first Test, but we kept believing that we could actually cause an upset in this series,” he further added.
