Mumbai indians?weird name?

do you think the name mumbai indians is justified as this team does not contain only indians ,isnt this an outsider behavior to the others? and which team do you think has the best name

i like deccan chargers and knight riders they are something i have never heard before ,rest of them are so cliched

  1. I fully agree with you.  The name given to Bombay Team is a wrong selection.


  2. I think they tried to mimic the baseball club "New York Yankees" name, just like Yankees is a slang for white Americans - so they tried to find a word that would be slang for Indians, but couldn't come up with a half-decent name :-)

  3. I believe , they had to write the "word INDIAN" to prove that Mubaikars are also Indians , which was doubted by they themselves; although, this name is very funny and not at all attractive.

  4. i do not realy try to find a controversy in the names of the teams although that does put up a very good point.

    i agree knight riders and chargers are new but the "deccan" in the deccan chargers are the name of the franchise that owns the hydrabad deccan chargers i also like the dehli daredevils b'cos it has a big daredevil such as the likes of sehwag.

    and i love the name 'Chennai Super Kings'.......and i support them!

    and Indians isnt just the only odd name! Look at the 2 ROYAL CHALLENGE teams (royal challengers and rajhasthan royals!) i mean what good is it to name a team after your brand or associate it with it! this aint sumthing i find interesting!

  9. The IPL itself is derived from the basketball, baseball, hockey leagues in US. The IPL website also reflects the same sitemap as nba.com, nhl.com..and similarly all the names for the teams are derived from the vaious nba/nhl/mba teams
