Mumbai v Kolkata - Mumbai Indians elect to field against Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Both teams have already made it to the play-offs, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Willey-c81951 be eying a victory in the last league game of the cash rich tournament.
The pitch seemed very good for batting and the MI skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sachin-Ramesh-Tendulkar-c87800, expected it to be the same in both innings. However, he chose to bowl first considering the dew might trouble the team bowling second.
The Master http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-Terry-Bates-c85335 said at the toss that he was eying to make it to the top two in the table, but a statistician at the venue stated, “For all practical purposes Mumbai can't be No.2. Even if KKR get bowled out for 80, Mumbai will have to win in 4.4 overs
to overtake Chennai. On the other hand KKR will almost certainly finish second if they win.”
He further added, “The only way they'll (KKR) win and still finish third is if KKR win a relatively low-scoring match by a very narrow margin - for instance if they score 140 and win by a run. But if KKR score anything more than 143 and win by any margin,
they're through.”
The KKR team will look to score more than 170 on this wicket and they have a good bowling attack, which is fully capable of defending such a total. They also have the home advantage and a good victory will ensure them a second position in the pool.
On the other hand, Mumbai will be looking for a victory to get the winning momentum back on their side. The visitors have been struggling in the recent times; losing three back to back matches. They had won eight out of the total 10 games played, but didn’t
manage to win after that.
This has certainly put the Tendulkar-led side on the back foot, but they have the potential to turn things around. They have probably the most balanced squad amongst the entire IPL squads, but a few star players will need to step up their game in order to
get back to the winning ways.
