Munchausen syndrome by proxy?

Question

i know this sounds bad but............ if you suspect this of your daughter-in-law and have no proof (like video) what would you do?

i know cps is an option but i don't want all the kids (4) to be taken from their home and placed with cps.........

if you tried to secretly place a video in the children's room and she found it.... then i'm sure i could be charged with something.... it is like my hands are almost tied... without video

are there any other options i have?

One option would be to discuss your suspicions with your son.

If that fails, then perhaps the safety of the children should be placed above all considerations and CPS notified. If your suspicions are true, your daughter-in-laws actions to induce or claim illness in the child(ren) could escalate to a dangerous level.

Dear Cheers,

              Child Services will not go forward and pick up your grandchildren based upon your telephone call. This should lead to an investigation that will look at medical records and hospital records. They have professional investigators who do not need your video.

                 If you are correct and your daughter-in-law has this rare condition, she might injure a grandchild anywhere and never get caught on camera.

                It is very, very unlikely that this situation exists. Even Courts require evidence of repeated unexplained injuries and hospitalizations. Should another grandchild show up with an injury, let the hospital know of your fear and concern. They are charged with contacting CPS in all cases where this is suspected.

            AT THIS POINT DO NOT TELL YOUR SON.... Do not force him to choose at this point and without evidence, between his wife and his Mother. You would likely lose and lose the ability to monitor the situation.

Well, if you really suspect she is harming the children, I wouldn't worry about the possibility of getting in trouble for the "nanny cam".  I think that would be a misdemeanor and not a felony, secretly taping members of your own family can't be too illegal...  I'd say go ahead and do it.  Is there an older child you could talk to, like, "Who was the last person in the room before so and so got sick?"  but without turning them against their mother, in case you're wrong?  Good luck.
