Munster Champ bags the Coral Coronation Cup's Heats at Romford on 6thJanuary by being the fastest in the final heat
The highlighting feature at Romford, on 6th January, were the six heats of the Coral Coronation Cup, prerequisite for the semi-finals to be held on Friday, 13th January.
The prize money offered throughout the heats was £150 and the designated distance for the race was 575 metres.
The Coral Coronation Cup's Heat 6 was won by Mark Wallis's trained Munster Champ, who raced through the wire in the least possible time amongst all the heats, 35.64 seconds.
Mark Wallis, Nick Savva and Kelly Findlay were the trainers who had their entries in all the heats, and are also the candidates for the Trainers’ Championship 2011.
The first heat had two entries from Mark Wallis, but it was won by the son of Razldazl Billy, out of Razldazl Pearl, born in April 2008, Razldazl Zamba.
Trained by R Holloway, he took on the challenge from the sixth position and gradually paced up, and made his way to the wire, finishing the race in 35.66 seconds.
P Rosney trained Rebellious Queen, was the 11 to 4 favourite of the heat.
The second heat saw the 11 to 10 favourite of the race, Rockview Sail claiming the track by covering it in 35.76 seconds.
Under R Senior’s charge, the son of Hondo Black out of Babyshan, Rockview Sail paced up steadily and started leading the track only towards the end of the race.
The third heat was taken away by D Knight’s trainee, Roses Rockin, the son of Droopys Vieri out of Coolavanny Posh.
He raced through the track distance in 36.11 seconds after breaking from the fourth stall and then fell into an early pace that guaranteed him the command of the track.
Just last month, Roses Rockin was the runner up in the Essex Vase.
Later into the night, the hound trained by Kelly Findlay, Coolavanny Jane won the fourth heat by finishing the race in 35.67 seconds.
The daughter of Razldazl Billy out of Ballymac Floss, did not wait long to speed up and was soon in command of the proceedings, being the 4 to 5 favourite.
The fifth heat was won by the Oaks' finalist, Spinkys Nod, who was sent as the 5 to 4 favourite. Trained by J Gammon, the daughter of Droopys Kewell out of Droopys Mo, Spinkys Nod, got done with the race in 35.78 seconds.
Munster Champ, trained by Mark Wallis, clocked the 575 metres of Heat 6 in 35.64 seconds, thus, winning the Coral Coronation Cup's Heat 6 of the pre-semis round, along with being the fastest amongst all the 36 hounds to reach the wire.
Muster Champ will now move on to the semi-finals of the Coral Coronation Cup, along with the other five winners and twelve second and third position holders of the heats. It will be likely for Muster Champ to be among the favourites for the bettors to bag
the semi-finals, scheduled at Romford on 13 January, 2012.
