The Rossoneri defender has insisted that he always believed the Juventus keeper to be a ‘champion of fairness’ but was disappointed by his reaction to the 'ghost goal'.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sulley-Muntari-c34312 has voiced his disappointment at Gigi Buffon, and has stressed that he remains disenchanted by the goalkeeper’s failure to acknowledge that his shot had clearly crossed the goalline.
The Ghanaian international’s goal was disallowed by the referee, who failed to spot that the ball had crossed the line.
The ball was thrown back by the Bianconeri keeper, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw thus depriving AC Milan of precious two points.
Muntari maintained that the points from that game did not affect their Scudetto run, but remained disappointed by the veteran keeper’s lack of honesty.
The Rossoneri midfielder stated that Buffon had a clear view that the ball had crossed the goal-line, and insisted that though he had never patronized the Juventus-man he always thought highly of him.
The Ghanaian player went on to stress that he is absolutely positive that the ball went over the line, and stated that he shared the view with the keeper who chose against admitting that his team had conceded.
The Diavolo playmaker stated that he often reflects on the moment, and thinks that the title race may have ended differently had that goal been allowed.
However, Muntari maintained that he is not stuck in the past, and stated that he is looking forward to reclaiming the Scudetto with his team in the next season.
While talking to Tuttosport, the 27-year-old said:
"He saw that the ball was clearly over [the line]. I have no idols in football. However, I thought that Buffon was a champion of fairness. I know that the ball was over the line. But he also knew, immediately. I have always thought that if they had given
that goal we could have won the game, but still maybe lost the championship. Or, conversely, we could have lost to Juventus and then won the championship anyway. But we're looking ahead and thinking about winning the next title."
Muntari is currently suffering from a serious knee injury suffered during the holidays, but the midfielder was confident that he will return back onto the field before the start of the new year.
