Murali Kartik, the left arm-spinner of Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, is not happy with the playing conditions in limited-overs format of the game and believes that the grounds are too small for the liking of any slow bowler.
Since the last couple of decades, pitches all over the world have been prepared in such a manner that they are more supportive to the batsmen. On top of that, the quality of bats has also improved because of the latest technology used in the production of
cricket equipment. This is the reason why, at times in modern day cricket, we see top-edges going over the boundaries.
With more and more entertainment involved in the game, cricket fans love to witness high-scoring encounters. This puts additional pressure on the curators and organizers to make things easier for the batsmen.
Kartik is currently playing the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Warriors and his team has been doing quite well in the season as they are on number four on the points table with eight points after as many matches.
The left-arm spinner, who is also a former international, has complained about the size of the grounds used in T20 cricket. He expressed that there is nothing for the bowlers in the shortest format of the game because good players are able to hit sixes at
will.
"In Twenty20, we get to play in postage stamp-sized grounds and as a bowler, you know that the batsmen will come hard at you every ball. On flat tracks, there is the strategy of trying to buy a wicket (give away a few runs and let the batsman make a mistake),
but that's just not possible in this format. You have to minimize the damage and thus it becomes very important to realize what ball to bowl when and to whom,” said Kartik.
While talking about the bowling attack of the Warriors, Kartik expressed that his team has some match-winners in its ranks like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Sharma-c83352. This makes him feel that Pune is going to be a real force in the on-going tournament.
He added, "The quality we have in our ranks is tremendous, especially the Indian bowlers like Nehra, Dinda and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321.”
