Murali Vijay Century Against Rajasthan Royals
Murali Vijay born on April 1, 1984 in Chennai is only 26 years old and plays for his home team Chennai Super Kings. He has blasted his way to one of the fastest centuries in 20/20 cricket, 127 runs with a strike rate of 230% with 11 sixes and 8 fours. He reached is 100 by smashing Shane Watson for four. Watson delivers a length ball down the ground, past mid-off, Vijay takes three steps down the pitch, and pumps his fists.
Vijay spared no one and hit Shaun Tait for 19 runs in the 14th over. Shaun Tait one of the fastest bowlers in the world who bowls at 150ks at will is being taken to the cleaners in the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. In Tait’s first three overs he has conceded 36 runs at 12 runs per over getting dispatched all over the field. This is 20/20 cricket at its best where the Chennai Super kings have already accumulated 235 runs for two wickets in 19 overs.
Vijay got his first chance to join the Indian team when Gautam Gambhir, the regular opener, had been banned for one match. Vijay did well by scoring 33 and 41, and running out Matthew Hayden. He was later selected as India's third opener for the Tests in New Zealand. Todays performance against Rajasthan Royals shows Vijay’s explosivness and how dangerous he can be.
Here is the 14th over bowled by Shaun Tait to Albie Morkel and Murali Vijay.
14.1 - Tait to Morkel, FOUR runs, what a shot! sits back in the shot, Tait attempts a yorker but Morkel stays deep in the crease drives it past extra cover
14.2 - Tait to Morkel, 1 run, Morkel tries to beat the extra cover again but can't do it but takes the single
14.3 – Vijay on the attack now. Tait to Vijay, SIX, wow its flying, Shaun delivers it short and wide but Vijay uses the pace as though the term was coined for this act of his, upper-cutting him over third man for another big six. Tait can’t believe this.
14.4 - Tait to Vijay, no run, Tait comes back with a better short delivery, cramping up Vijay who defends it.
14.5 - Tait to Vijay, SIX, take this show some respect Vijay! This is a man bowling bouncers at close to 150ks, and Vijay is expecting just that. And he has backed away and walloped it over midwicket, onto the roof, and out of the stadium! This ball is not coming back. Even the ball wants out.
14.6 - Tait to Vijay, 1 wide, Tait is trying too hard now and throws a full and wide yorker, and ends up bowling it too wide. This means this delivery will be bowled again.
14.6 - Tait to Vijay, 1 run Tait is relieved, slower ball from Tait, Vijay guides it in front of stumps for a single to third man
This is just an amazing stuff and tells you something about Morkel and also begs the question, why does South Africa not send Morkel early. Graeme Smith needs to pay attention.
