Murilo returns to Brazilian men’s national volleyball team – Volleyball news
In the wake of week-2 matches of the 2012 FIVB World League, Brazilian wing-spiker Murilo Endres is set to return to the national squad.
Murilo suffered from a shoulder injury due to which he also missed the week-1 matches of the World League, which took place in Toronto, Canada. Brazilian team played three matches and finished with not so good results. Murilo was indeed greatly missed out
in the team.
Brazil dropped its first two matches to Poland and hosts Canada, respectively. However, the team managed to overcome Finland in the third fixture. Murilo stayed out of the team but watched all the matches of his team. He also shared his thoughts on Brazil’s
performance.
He commented, “I realized Brazil had less match rhythm than the other teams. We wish to improve in the next week and keep getting better until the Olympics.”
Following the completion of first flight of the FIVB World League preliminaries, Poland is set to host the second-week match of Pool B. The action will resume on Friday, June 1 and six matches will be played. Polish City Katowice will provide the backdrop
for the second-week matches. According to the set formula of the competition, each team will get to play three matches. The second week matches will come to end on Sunday, June 3.
Currently, the roster of Brazilian features middle-blockers Lucas, Sidao and Rodrigao, setters Ricardo and Bruno, opposites Theo and Wallace, libero Sergio and wing spikers Dante, Thiago, Mauricio, Lucarelli and Joao Paulo, while 2010 FIVB World Championship
MVP Murilo will also join the squad.
“Since the team returned from Canada, I started to practice alongside the group waiting for Bernardo [Rezende’s, Brazil coach] decision,” Murilo revealed. “I am feeling good and I want to play.”
Murilo received the necessary medical treatment at the Brazilian Volleyball Development Centre in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro and is quite ready to embark on the adventure again. His presence in the team will certainly allow Brazil to do well in the upcoming
matches. The coach Bernardo is also optimistic that team will recover the deficit.
