is muscle soreness after a workout a good or a bad thing? Is it a sign that you had a good workout? or is more a sign of overtraining or training improperly?

I am just recently starting to workout if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance

  1. you can get cancer that way. you over did it. please visit a doctor asap. as this causes major damage to the body & brain.

    Good luck & hurry.

  2. I think what you need to do is stretch more before you exercise.

This way your muscles will be warmed up and ready for you workout.

So before working out try doing a couple of stretches and see if that helps!

    Hope it works!

  3. You over did it ...a little soreness is ok but you should always start small and build your workout time up over time. That will be good for the body to adjust. A little bit of rubbing alcohol and warm bath should help with the hurt

  4. It is a good sign the first few times you work out or after a particularly tough workout.  If you are consistently sore after moderate workouts then you may have a problem.  When you first start training you will be sore and that is a sign that you are getting stronger.

  5. Yes it is a normal thing. When you work out your muscles break down in to nothing. So you are taring your muscles apart practically. And then your muscles build back stronger and bigger. So it is a normal thing.

  6. First, muscle soreness 12-48 hours after your workout is completely normal.  Especially when you just begin a workout regimen and you are out of shape you will likely have more soreness as you are building muscle.  If your soreness is really painful it may mean you over-exerted yourself and perhaps need to be more gradual in your workout program.

I found the information on about.com to be really helpful. http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/injur...

Make sure you determine whether your muscle soreness is a result of a strain or injury versus the delayed soreness which is a normal response.

I recently got back into the groove of working out after a few months off and found my muscle soreness was really painful because I'm out of shape.

    Best of luck!

  7. That happened to me u overdid your workout

  8. Basically the reason why you are sore is because lactic acid builds up in you're muscles, because you aren't stretching after you're workouts.

Just make sure that after you're workouts you stretch. If you are stretching for at least 10 minutes after but you are still sore you should see a doctor.

  9. wtf r u talkin about

  10. The more it hurts, the better.

You're feeling pain because you've ripped & torn your muscles, so now they will rebuild, adding more muscle at the same time.

You should take higher quantities of protein to decrease the time of pain in your muscle
