Hi! I just came back from a full day of riding and towards the end of the day a small patch of outer muscle right above my ankle hurts on my front (right) leg. Is it my boot? Bad riding technique Or is this too be expected?

This started happening today. I was carving pretty hard all day long on long runs. No freestyle. I finally know haul down single diamond runs!!

  1. aggressive riding could do that.  if it is just sore that's probably just muscles repairing from the work you did.  if its bruised or discolored i could be a pressure point in your boot.  either way the problem should go away after a few more times out.

or as Mel said it could be shin splints.  for those streach, rest, and ice.

  2. almost sounds like shin splints....but lower

it could be because of your boot. if your riding aggessive on your toe edge you could be puttin a bruisin on the front of the leg.

or it could just be shin splints.

with shin splints, just stretch before and after riding. should solve your problems. hit up google for more info on it though.

  3. I get this pain sometimes too.  I typically get the pain when riding switch.  It is likely that I am not as relaxed as when riding regular, so I am working too hard.  For me, it is quite manageable: the pain goes away after a short rest.

You might want to check your boot fit.  If it is too lose or roomy, then your muscles have to do to much work to support you when you ride.   If they were too tight you would likely have foot pain and not leg pain.
