Question:

Muscle building and rest?

ok so i'm going to the gym sort of 3 days in a row lifting weights (arms and shoulders) and my arms are really sore so i was just wondering what is the importance of resting my muscles or is it best just to tough it out and keep at it?

will i get more muscle if i keep at it?

  1. DON'T workout 3 days in a row!! Do it like this;

    Monday; Chest and back

    Tues; Rest

    Wed; Arms and shoulders

    Thurs; Rest

    Fri; Legs & abs

    You need to rest after a workout, your muscles actually build when you sleep/rest so it's very important.


  2. firdt of all dont worry. ive been weight lifting for years and i still get ' two day delay'. when you train you break down muscles so they repair stronger and bigger. thats why they are sore, so your doing well! its best to cycle your bodyparts and train them in groups so while some are recovering your training others giving them time to repair else you'll end up overtraining them and see no improvements at all. my routine is -

    mon- chest and triceps

    tues- back and biceps

    wed- off (rest day)

    thurs- shoulders and traps

    fri- legs

    sat- off (rest day)

    sun- off (rest day......again) no one wants to train on a sunday anyway

    i do cardio on each training day and a short abs session aswell

    The main thing tho is your diet. you dont eat properly you wont grow properly!!!

    take supplements but glutamine is good for taking edge off soreness as it helps recovery.

  4. Do it like chris says Rest is alot more important than training because you wont get any muscular body without rest

  5. ur muscles need to rest so after u workout for 3 days take a days rest its very important for ur muscles to heal or else u will actually lose muscle also get some vitamins with protien or protein shakes which will heal the muscle and give it wat it needs to grow larger and u will get used to it and ur arms will hurt less

I found some great muscle building tips from the site http://fitness4u.sitesled.com .  There are tips form the top fitness trainers.  There are also some good downloadable free ebooks.  The no-nonsense muscle building is a great program that I used.  They really give you what you need to gain muscle without supplements.
