If you wake up in the morning and your muscles are sore from working out the previous day, but you still work out in the morning despite the muscle soreness, do you still gain muscle?

  1. You can, but don't work the same group, directly that you worked the previous day. I'm usually a little sore from a chest day, but the next day I'll still work shoulders, even thought I still feel the soreness from the chest routine..I'm not working them directly..their in a supportive role.

you're tearing down when you lift, you need a rest day to recover.

  2. IF you have a hardcore workout lets say friday, it is good to let the muscle rest and re-cooperate over the weekend. The answer to your question is yes. Say you benched 50 lbs. You should only do about 25-30 lbs untill your muscles rebuild themselves. Soreness usually happened when you introduce something to your body suddenly. Such as if you been lifting 10lbs for 3 weeks, and quickly switch to 50, this will cause soreness. Before you train though, make sure you streetch and warm up befor lifting. This may help ease the pain.

    Good luck!

    Cheers

  3. it's best to workout when your muscles AREN'T sore. muscle get stronger after the workout, not during

  4. yeah, when your muscles are growing they rip and then get bigger and stronger when they are back together i suppose that if you're still working out they will grow back bigger

  5. Imagine you are building a wall. The directions on the bucket of mortar say "allow mortar to dry before adding more bricks". What do you think would happen if you just keep adding bricks without following the directions?

A good workout induces trauma to a muscle. That trauma in the form of tiny tears has to be repaired so that the muscle comes back tighter, stronger and with more connective tissue. If you keep workoing out the same muscle before you recover its like picking off a scab and expecting a wound to heal.

  6. its smart to wait a complete twenty four hours before working the same muscles. If you want the full build out of the work out you got you need to do three things......Make sure you are ABSOLUTLY doing the work out correct and going all the way down on bench, tricep extension, squat etc. That is the most important. Second have lots of protein because that will heal your muscles after you have broken them down through work outs. Third its smart to wait 2 days before working out the same work out. So if you do that work out on monday dont do that work out again till wednesday

  7. You should never work out the same muscle group two days in a row. You can still work out another muscle group, but definitely not the same one.
