Is anyone heading to this should-be-amazing gig?

I have never been to the venue - Marley Park - does anyone know what it is like? Can I have a few beers at it? And is there anywhere near the airport I can stay? I am flying over from the UK for it.

Oooh, also (sorry...) how is best to get from airport to City Centre and the venue?

Many thanks :-D

  1. I'll ya there! I can't wait, I'm a huge huge Muse fan. I Seen them for the first time last year and I'm really looking forward to this gig.

I seen Damien Rice at Marlay Park last August. It's a lovely place for a gig- very clean, loads of room, good toilet facilities ad yes there's a Heniken tent and the bog standard burger vans and all. They even had sawdust down to keep the field dry at that gig, which was great cos we could lie in the sun waiting for the gig to begin- no mucky mess. I think Marlay park is an idela place for this gig- not like the mudbath that was Oxegen last year.

As for somewhere to stay- i'm really not sure. I don 't live in Dublin I live in Co. Donegal. I wouldn't reccoment Bewley's Hotel anyways (I stayed there last year, it's very very boring). I don't know anywhere near the airport but if you found a Dub on here they could prob reccomend you somewhere.

Have fun and i'll see you there!

  2. oohhh,im going 2!! And i cant wait!! Im 15 and its gonna be my 1st proper, proper concert, but no i havnt been 2 marley park before...should be FUN!!!!!!!!!

  3. my friends are goin 2 dat concert....woohoo

  4. I saw The Who at Marley Park last year. Great site, it reminded me of open-air concerts I used to go to in my younger days. Yes, there was a beer tent, usual hamburger stalls, etc. Last year they put on buses from the town centre, on the south bank, to the concert. Ask at the travel office or search the Internet (which is how I found out – the locals didn't seem to know). I would guess that there's a bus from the airport but I travelled by rail and sea last year.

Enjoy the concert. Hope the weather stays fine.

Edit. It's coming back to me. The airport is north of the City whereas Marley Park is to the south. There are hostels and cheap hotels near the coach station. There are coaches from the airport. Last year I stayed at Isaac's hostel, which has private rooms. There are bound to be hotels like the Hilton near the airport but, obviously, they will cost a bomb.
