Mushroom Hunting?

Anyone have any good tips on the best places to find morel's?

on a one year old fire... check your local forest service dept and find out if there were any fires in your area last year... then go for a walk on it.. check the green areas of the burn...

that or depending were you live some naturals grow.. check with local mushroom clubs...

My chief mushroom hunts and he finds them in fields such as where you would hunt for deer. He eats like 2.5 skillets of mushrooms a night right now!! He LOVES them, I asked him to bring me some but I dont think he wants to share them because he LOVES them. He said his wife made lasagna 2 nights ago and he had just ate 2.5 skillets full of mushrooms so he was full but he still had a sliver of her lasagna so that she would not feel bad.. So he told her that it always tastes better the second day so he had to go home last night and eat lasagna but all he really wanted to eat were his mushrooms!! He LOVES them!! Make sure you dont eat poisonous mushrooms because they will poison you and u will prolly die!! Good luck finding any edible mushroom of the genus!!!

If you are wondering how he cooks them up, he said he puts flour and some other seasonings on them and then fries them in butter. He LOVES them!!

Caution: He also says he gains weight during mushroom season so if you are trying to watch your figure you may want to refrain from frying them in butter, maybe try vegetable oil instead as it is made from vegetables!!!
