Question:

Mushroom clouds?

I remember sometime around 1998 or 1999 seeing two huge mushroom shaped clouds hovering over the eastern sky.

I live in a small town around the middle of New Mexico.

They werent clouds like atomic explosions exactly. They seemed more permanent. I dont remember there being any storms with them either.

They were just two really really big mushroom shaped clouds hovering over the sky. The rest of the sky was clear though.

I dont know why i remember this or why i want it answered, but does anyone have any idea wat could cause two identical huge floating mushroom clouds that dont contribute to weather?

Note: the clouds didnt really seem something that naturally occurs. but i could be wrong.

  1. They are actucally called mushroom clouds and quite rare and not always caused by nuclear explosions Here is a link and some other bits of information on them and other rare clouds for you, which i think it might also be Altocumulus Castelanus that you are referring too.

Anyways take a look and see if it is the one you mean. Hope it helps
