Mushroom flies to victory in Owners Bonus Series Final at Harlow
The finale of Owners Bonus Series was highlight of Harlow’s Saturday card. As expected, the 415 metres event produced a lot of thrill and drama. After an entertaining clash, P. Simmonds’ trainee, Mushroom, sealed an emphatic win to earn winning prize of £500.
The Grade A5 meeting started off at 21:40 GMT. Soon after the start, the blue and white b***h established her dominance, which she retained till the end. With odds of 3 to 1, she began proceedings from the white box.
The daughter of Dods Delight displayed such a forceful show that it was almost impossible for the rest of the pack to challenge her. Consequently, she crossed the wire 3¾ lengths ahead of the runner-up.
Glanmore Shane managed to secure second slot by a length’s margin, but he was well behind the 26.19s champion. The final outcome would have been seriously disappointing for the connections of Spruce Pepper, who was rated the 2-1 favourite ahead of the affair.
Since the blue and white b***h got crowded at the first bend, she was unable to do anything special. Luck also did not favour her in the middle, as she missed third spot by a head distance.
Jo Suttons Hen Party Stakes was another crucial competition on the day. The 415 metres event saw Fleetwood Shy cruising to victory by a decent margin. The black b***h was not able to dominate early on, but her strong finish helped her outsmarting everyone.
Holding odds of 7 to 2, the March-10 daughter of Top Honcho commenced her act from the second trap. She stopped the clock in 26.88 seconds to earn 3/4L win. P. Philpott would have been delighted with her trainee’s smart effort, as she notched up first spot comfortably, despite not being the favourite.
Farran Fantasy seized second position by one and a half lengths. Limit Up Deal, who was 11-8 favourite, could not live up to the expectations, finishing fourth by and one and a quarter lengths. Getting crowded at the third bend became the reason of his embarrassing defeat.
Harlow’s card was full of entertainment, but the abovementioned two races were centre of everyone’s attention.
