Mushtaq Ahmed praises the combination of Salman Butt and Waqar Younis

Mushtaq Ahmed, former leg-spinner of Pakistan has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to remain consistent with the current captain-coach combination featuring Salman Butt and Waqar Younis.
The opening batsman Salman Butt is the sixth captain of Pakistan cricket team in a year. 25 year old Salman Butt jumped into what has long been the hottest of hot seats as he was given the charge of Pakistan team as captain. Butt led Pakistan to a historic victory over the Ashes favourites Australia after 15 years, breaking a losing streak of 13 Test matches.
Earlier http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Lord’s. Afridi’s retirement from Test cricket left the post of captain vacant for the sixth time in a year. This time the captaincy was handed to young Salman Butt who promptly bagged Pakistan a three-wicket victory against the “Kangaroos” in his first test as captain.
The googly specialist of Pakistan, Mushtaq said that the team coach plays an essential role in the success of a captain. He said that the incumbent captain is lucky enough to have Waqar Younis as coach. Mushtaq Ahmed further added that Younis is a mature man and for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 captain, a good and mature coach has always been very important.
The leg-spinner hauled the current combination of coach and captain and said that it might take some time for the pair to put Pakistan on the winning track so the two should be given due time to prove their mettle. The former spinner of Pakistan, now spin bowling coach of England, said that young skippers at times make mistakes in the start and the coach guides them there that is why the coach plays a huge role in the progress of a team.
Mushtaq, who has always been a part of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 side that has won county championship titles thrice – 2003, 2006 and 2007, added that the coach and the captain should be given free hand in dealing team matters. He appreciated Pakistan team’s struggle to win the final Test against Australia and said that the side will naturally struggle to gain consistency as they are lacking home advantage.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2009. Mushtaq feels that this is the key factor behind Pakistan team’s inconsistent form. The former leg-spinner said that it is a painful situation for the Pakistani players since no team is willing to visit their country and they are wandering around the globe like nomads, always away from their families. He further added that these days Pakistani cricketers hardly get time to spend in Pakistan with their families and loved ones and that really hurts.
Another spin wizard of Pakistan, Saqlain Mushtaq also insisted that PCB should take emergency measures to take cricket back to Pakistan. The former off-spinner said that Pakistan cricket is suffering a lot by playing its home matches at neutral venues. Saqlain further added that playing home-series at neutral grounds should not be the long term solution of the problem as it is damaging the grassroots of the country’s game.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saqlain-Mushtaq-c88743, who has now settled in England, said that England is the best choice to play home matches at neutral grounds. The weather conditions are very good, pitches are remarkable to bat and offer a bit of spin as well and all these conditions suit Pakistani players. At the same time there is a big Pakistani community to support the players making them feel at home.
