Mushtaq Mohammad delighted to see the revival of Indo-Pak cricket – Cricket News Update
Excited about the upcoming series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushtaq-Mohammad-c78109, the former Pakistan captain, hopes that the competition will pave way for regular encounters between the two teams in future.
Cricketing ties between the neighbouring countries halted after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terror attacks in 2008. Apart from the stoppage of bilateral series, no player from Pakistan took part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after its first edition.
The situation however, seems to be ameliorating now with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
More importantly, the Green Shirts are going to tour India in December to play a limited-over series against the arch-rivals, which will comprise of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a couple of T20s.
In an exclusive interview to Pakpassion, the former Pakistan captain expressed his desire to see the two nations playing against each other consistently. Mushtaq blamed governments of both the countries for their failure to have improved mutual relations
over the last six decades.
“It’s nice to see Pakistan and India resume their cricketing ties which really shouldn’t have stopped if it hadn’t been for the politicians. These are two talented sides that should play on a regular basis,” said the former Test cricketer.
The Indo-Pak matches are always a mouth-watering prospect for the cricket fans all around the world as both India and Pakistan are among the major forces in international cricket. He urged the PCB and BCCI to work on having sound relations.
The former cricketer is disappointed that no Test matches are included in the short tour and believes that the five-day format remains the pinnacle of the game, despite all the hype attached with the shorter versions of the sport.
He mentioned, “I hope this series later in the year is the start of uninterrupted series between the Asian rivals and I thank the BCCI for inviting Pakistan to play cricket, although I do wish that there were at least 2 Test matches in the series which I
and most players believe to be the true test of any side.”
