"The BCCI is very much responsible for poor planning of this tour. They thought their cricketers were machines and are being treated like machines,” said Mushtaq.
The Indian team has been caught up in a hectic schedule for the past couple of months, which included some long tournaments.
One of the longest cricket events the team played was the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) World Cup 2011. Following the mega event’s conclusion, most of the Indian players participated in the lucrative Indian Premier League's
(IPL) fourth edition, which went on for almost two months.
"I also blame the players for wanting the money in the IPL. They put their body through all kind of strain and pain and didn't think about the tour of England, which was a very important tour," he said.
After that, the World Cup Champions started their series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, where they played the only Twenty20, a five-match One Day International series and a three-match Test series.
The Indian team hardly managed a single warm-up match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 ahead of the series against England. Hence, they started the tour against English with poor show and lost the first Test at Lord’s by a margin of 196 runs.
In the second game at Trent Bridge, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men displayed more disappointing performances and were beaten by a big margin of 319 runs.
In the third Test match, India were handed a humiliating defeat by an innings and 242 runs, which saw them losing their No.1 status on ICC's rankings.
“They (the players) can't play day in day out, they are human beings and they do get tired both physically and mentally and they do need rest which is very important," Mushtaq said.
Now, England are enjoying the top status on ICC's rankings with a tally of 125 points.
However, now the BCCI is planning more warm-ups ahead of the team’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, starting in December.
