Music Charities?

Does anyone know of any music related charities based in the U.S.? I'm thinking of ones like VH1 Save The Music, but the only ones I can seem to find are in the UK, like the Musicians' Benevolent Fund, Music For Youth, and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. Any ideas?

  1. Music Has Power, the institute for music & neurologic function,  is a wonderful agency whose mission is to "maintain and improve people's physical, emotional and neurologic functioning through the systematic use of music.(1)"

You can also become a "Friend of Music Therapy" by donating to the American Music Therapy Association, "to increase the public awareness of music therapy and to facilitate the research, education, training, and technical assistance necessary to make Music Therapy accessible and available for children and adults through the country.(2)"

  2. I assume that you want charities that support musicians, rather than musicians supporting other causes [*].

In which case, here are just some  ....

    ● Musicians Workshop

    ● The Musicians Foundation [New York]

    http://www.musiciansfoundation.org/

    ● The Musicians Foundation [Hollywood]

    http://themusiciansfoundation.org/

    ● Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians

    http://www.am-fm.org/

    ● There are many listed on this webpage of radio station WWOZ 90.7FM, although the charities listed are heavily weighted towards New Orleans/Katrina musicians' relief
