Question:

Music GSCE Performance Coursework Advice?

About 4 weeks ago, due to my school's early switch into year 10, I started my GSCE music. I am now aware that after the summer holidays I have to be ready to peform a piece of music for my coursework. I play guitar and I wanted somone's advice on a song I could learn to peform. I don't want something too hard, would be nice if there wasn't many barre chords. I'm cool with tapping, power chords and basic chords but I'm not that fast at picking. It also needs to have lots of different guitar sections as I don't want to be doing the same riff over and over. Any songs you can think of? Thanks :)

  1. Let's be honest, GCSE music requires you to be grade 3 on an instrument, so nothing too strenuous! I would recommend playing classical guitar as opposed to rock (unless you only own an electric guitar obviously) because it provides a better display of your technique and is easier to mark from an examiners point of view. Perhaps you could learn something by Matteo Carcassi - his 25 Etudes Melodiques would be a good place to start.

Good luck for the performance. :)
