Music Journalism?

I love to write, and I love music, so I figured a job where i could write about music would be awsome. So I really wanna get into music journalism, but I don't know the first thing about it. Like, I know they interview musicians and stuff, but what else do they do? Do you go to college for it, or get an internship with a label or music magazine? And if you do go to college for it, do they have a major in music journalism, or do you just major in regular journalism. Please if you have any helpful information please let me know. Thank you. :D

  1. well, getting a job, it would be best to have gone to college, so oyu could major in journalism, minor in music, and music journalists review cd's, interview artists, etc. you could get a job w/ a paper, and they pay you for each music article you write.

  2. This is a hard business to break into and there are so many people who want to work in the entertainment portion of the industry.College always helps a lot and some sort of background in music is great. But I have found that people who pigeon-hole themselves into one particular type of writing seem to have the most problem. I you can open yourself to learn how to cover other beats, it can not only make you a more well-rounded writer, but help get you in the door.
