Is it hard to find a job as a music teacher if you are teacher certified? I have taught music for three years. I am going back to school to get a masters and also to get teacher certified. Is it hard to find a job teaching music? Thanks

  1. It's harder to find a job teaching music than most other subject areas. Exactly how difficult depends on the part of the country you are in. If you are in the Midwest, Northeast, or most of the Mid-Atlantic, it can be next to impossible unless you have some very unique qualifications or are willing to teach at a school no else wants to teach at. In the South, it's much easier. NV and NC are two of the easiest states for teachers to find jobs in. In VA, where I live, it's not too bad for music teachers looking for work. It's more competitive than other subjects, but new grads do find work.
