Music and Hurricane Katrina?

How much do you think Hurricane Katrina affected the music scene in Mississippi and Louisiana, specifically New Orleans? Without having done much research, I've wondered this for a while. Are school music programs suffering a lot because of loss of instruments? What about local artists? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
