Music collage?

is there such thing as a collage where you play in a band and perform to lots of people and study music and things

Every accredited 4 year college/university have a music department and offer degrees with a music major.

Check your community Junior College as well since they also

have a music department and offer degrees (2years) in music.

Part of the requirements for graudation may include both ,

performing in a group and/or as a soloist.

However not all your time in school will be about music, you must also meet other requirements (subjects like English and

History,etc).

Well recognized music schools like Julliard, Manhattan, Pebody Conservatory, New England, Eastman, etc. will only accept students that already have shown proficiency in an instrument and they must apply for an audition before they are accepted.

The competition to get into these schools is fierce.

For a new beginner in music the local college is the best bet.

It's college by the way, and yes there is  the Berkelee School of Music. A lot of universities  have music programs: FSU, JMU, VT, and JMU to name a few.

But these aren't the only good ones: DePaul, St. Olaf, U. Wisconsin, Northwestern, Oberlin, New England Conservatory, and many others are also great.

There are several majors: Performance, Music Education, Music Theory, Music Technology, Music Therapy, Musicology, and music minors. Not every school has every major.

If you are not taking private lessons now, start. Your teacher will help you develop your skills and prepare for entrance auditions. Be ready to visit several colleges and universities to find the right one for you.

It takes a ton of work to become a musician, but it's worth it.

There are also many colleges where one can participate in music without majoring in it.
