I work at a coffee shop and my boss asked me if I wanted to bring in any music to play because the music we have now is really bad. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks.

  1. i like jazz. it pretty much sets the mood for a nice peaceful cup of java. :)

  2. My main suggestion is to keep it low. Background/mood music is fine, but I can't stand it when I go out for a drink or meal and can't have a conversation over the blaring music. There's at least one restaurant that I won't go to again because the music was too loud. Thanks, I've been waiting for an opportunity to rant about that.

Pick something you think will appeal to the majority of your customers. Personally, I would prefer something instrumental and relaxing. Not necessarily classical. Enya-type or something maybe. But, as you probably guessed, I'm old. lol.

  3. Depending on the crowds, of people you serve it differs. If you serve older people play older music, like jazz, ro music from the early 1900's. If it is people in their early 30's to teens go with maybe more rock or hip hop. Children really have no place in a coffee shop so dont worry about playing little children music.

But whateer music you choose, don't make it really loud, make it so people are able to hold a conversation.

  4. We use to play alot of 60's and 70's stuff and then demo tapes of local artists at the one i use to work at
