Music lessons in Spain?

I have recently started taking clarinet lessons, and its going great. Problem is Im leaving for Spain for a year September 14th. I'll be staying in Jaraiz de la vera, Caceres, Spain. I want to keep up with my lessons so bad, but jaraiz is a small town and I dont know of any music schools. So, does anyone know of any places that offer clarinet lessons around Caceres? Even any places in Madrid would be apreciated. Thanks!

  1. There are a lot of music schools and conservatories in Spain. I'm sure you will be able to find a lot of private lessons (look for them on the yellow pages or ask when you arrive there), but the two official conservatories in the province of Cáceres are:

Conservatorio Profesional de Música "Hermanos Berzosa"

Ronda de San Francisco. Tel. 927 244 411

    10005 Cáceres

Conservatorio Provincial Profesional de Música "García Matos"

    C/. Trujillo, 27 Tel. 927 411 435

    10600 Plasencia (Cáceres)

There are also music schools like

    ENCLAVE

Prolongación Calle Hermandad (Entrada por Galería Rivero) 10001 Cáceres Tel. 637 53 36 23 www.enclavemusica.com

    or

    MUSICA EN CLAVE DE DO

    Matías Montero, 8

    10600 PLASENCIA (CACERES)

    Tel: 927 425 208 escuelamusica@eresmas.com

    or

    CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY, C.B.

    C/ Pedro Valdivia, 17

10300 NAVALMORAL DE LA MATA - CACERES

    Tel: 927 538 410

I think there are more schools in the province, and for sure in the province of Badajoz too, but I am not from there and I can't help you more. I was in Cáceres about 8 years ago, it is one of the poorest regions in Spain but it's a fantastic land with fantastic people, I actually loved it. Small, rural, intimate towns near the Jerte valley and the Gredos mountains. Ask for the cherries in the spring and enjoy the staying!

  2. Try this:  put páginas amarillas into your browser window.  once inside, put Cáceres into the ciudad window, and then ask for music lessons....clases de música or instrumentos...see what turns up.  I bet there are a few local small-business types who teach lessons out of their homes, or something.  Surely Cáceres might be to small to have a full school, but private lessons might be available.

I have a feeling Madrid is too far to go for regular lessons!   I think it's a couple of hours by train.
