Music list for ipod in itunes won't let me click anything?

uuuhh..... yeah that's pretty much it. it's all gray and it won't let me click anything. the library on the computer is fine, but the one on my ipod is dysfunctional. does anyone know why or how to fix this problem? if i wasn't clear enough let me know.

Yes. On the main screen of when your ipod pops up in your itunes (w/ the general info, like name, serial # etc.) There is a checkbox at the bottom that reads "manually manage music and videos" and check it off. Also uncheck the automatic Synchronization box. Then your problem will be gone.
