Music producer Mark Ronson to make Olympic song for Coca Cola – London 2012 Olympics
Coca Cola, a major sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics, has revealed that Mark Ronson is going to create the theme track for the London 2012 Olympics in all Coca Cola advertisements.
Ronson, a three-time Grammy winner, has released two solo albums and has also worked with Amy Winehouse. The theme song for the Olympics will be the biggest challenge yet for the upcoming singer and producer as the song will be used for thousands of advertisements
that Coca Cola will be using during its Olympics campaign.
Ronson talked to reporters and stated that, "You have one shot, one song. It has to be great."
Ronson is apparently not going to work alone on the project as it is reported that Katy B will be collaborating with him. From what has been made known, the theme song is going to incorporate the sounds of athlete’s grunts, the thunks of tennis balls and
the thud of volleyballs.
As an example of the sounds to be used in the theme song, Ronson made the following statement to the Associated Press about the grunt of the British table tennis player, Darius Knight: "Sometimes he uses it to put off his opponents, and sometimes it is a
sound of victory – to me it sounded like James Brown, so I knew I would use that."
Among other players whose sounds that Ronson is interested in include Dayyan Jaffar, the archer from Singapore as well as the Mexican taekwondo player, Maria Espinoza. Ronson believes that Espinoza’s sound is like "kicking the c**p out of somebody.”
Not only that, Ronson has also lined up the panting noises of Kseniya Vdovina, the Russian runner as well as the sound of the American hurdler, David Oliver.
The end product of Ronson’s creativity is supposed to be played at the back of all Coca Cola advertisements made for the Olympics. However, it is not until the March of next year that the song will be made public and used by Coca Cola in its Olympics campaign.
