Music school...like college... how do i better myself to get into one?

well ive been told i sing pretty good, but i want to better my voice, so i can join choir and do well.i would really like to go to a nice music school. im already in band and ive gotten the musicianship award once, and i kno i can get a good recommendation with my band teacher and previous band teacher for a nice music school. but i want to deserve it more, i want to kno that im not just making it, i want to deserve it. i want to take singing lessons but in this small town i doubt we have them. any ideas that might help me out?? anything is helpful.

also, does anyone kno of any music schools??~~anywhere in the u.s--- perferably california, but anywhere works

If youre good enough to get awards then you deserve them?

Obviously you need to be in chior and just keep winning awards..
