For my option I have musical theatre and for the auditions we have to sing. I have no idea what to sing. I don't want a super hard song with lots of ups and downs but I want a song that will impress my teachers. and yes I consider myself to be a good singer.

  1. Well first you should say if you're a soprano, mezzo, or alto, it can make it easier to give a better suggestion of songs.

The Past is Another Land - Aida

    My Strongest Suit - Aida

    There's a Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q

Home - Beauty and the Beast

Someone Like You - Jekyll and Hyde

Still Hurting - The Last Five Years

    I Dreamed a Dream - Les Miserables

On My Own - Les Miserables

Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors

Think of Me - Phantom of the Opera

Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again - Phantom of the Opera

    Out Tonight - RENT

    Without You - RENT

Take Me or Leave Me - RENT

I'm Not Afraid of Anything - Songs for A New World

Green Finch and Linnet Bird - Sweeney Todd

I Still Believe - Miss Saigon (Can be sung as a Solo)

What I Did For Love - A Chorus Line

  2. it depends wat ur voice range is

if ur an alto, i would sing something slow and more mature

if ur a soprano, i would sing something upbeat

tell me wat voice range u r and i can give u a huge list, but its too hard to give u ideas without a voice type

  3. "tea for two"-soprano/mezzo from no no nanette (shows range, catchy lyrics)

"show me"-soprano from my fair lady (shows range, quick and fun)

"the physician" soprano from nymph errant (upbeat, shows range, and funny!)

"where has my hubby gone blues" mezzo/alto from no no nanette (slow, bluesy, shows range)

i could probably think of more, sorry if you are an alto, but i'm a soprano, so i don't know too many songs. a director once told me that in an audition it's better to do a lesser known song, and do it well, because it's more memorable. don't do anything too hard or too well known, because you are instantly going to be compared to other who sang it.

  4. sing the song you sing the best
