  1. private singing lessons would be one of the best things to do, they teach you all different techniques you need to be a solo performer.. unlike chorus were they show you how to perform in a group.. also take dance.. you should take like a Broadway style of dancing and drama is great you could also take acting lessons. Good Luck :)

  2. you need private singing lessons, you need dance lessons, you need to be in all the shows you can, when you are about 16 you need acting lessons and you should start going to summer camps for musical theatre when you are 15.

  3. Grades will only be important if you are planning to apply to universities to continue your training.  If you trust your choral director, you should ask them about their advice for personalized training.   Getting up in front of audiences as a soloist should be one of your immediate goals.  Initially it does not matter too much where that happens.

  4. Private singing lessons would be good, because a choir only preares you for choral work and you are alwas singing in a falsetto, which doesn't often work with solo parts.

It is a good idea to take musical theatre dance lessons, but, with more modern musicals there has been less and less dance incorporated.

Also, acting is a big part of musicl theatre, because when you dance and sing, you need to have a proper one. (e.g. you can't be happy go lucky in a number like "We're Not Sorry" from Urinetown)
