Something like "Oliver!" with a lot of ensemble numbers and many cameo roles and what not. And well-known is always best.

  1. Certainly some valid suggestions here, but is this a question? A Poll? If more, why not add details?

  2. Well, my obvious answer is Grease!  Even the main cast resembles an ensemble!  You have Danny, Sonny, Doody, Kenickie and Roger just for the greasers.  You have Sandy, Frenchy, Rizzo, Marty, and Jan just for the Pink Ladies.  That's not to mention Patty and Eugene and Mrs. Lynch and Teen Angel and Johnny Casino and Vince Fontaine AND the actual ensemble!  Plus, everybody loves Grease!  When we did it, every night was sold out!  The audience knows the characters, songs, and the story, and they love the excitement and colorfulness of it!  So I'd definitely put on Grease if you're looking for a good musical.  Hope this helps!

  4. Yep Grease! Did it with school and was wicked even though I was just in the chorus- vibrant colours, fab dancing- all time classic!

  7. "All That Jazz" lots of numbers, lots of roles. But does make the viewer think.

Bob Fosse choreographs his own death. Many scenes in the video with the Grim Reaper (Ben Vereen) dancing around him. There are also scenes where you see him trying to negotiate with the angel of death. Very beautiful scenes. Outstanding musical numbers. Could be a challenge for some theater groups. Much more challenging than a overdone play like Grease, that many brain dead people may like.

  8. Some musicals you can add extra parts regardless of the script while others it wouldn't work. There are also ways you can add more people by dividing up the chorus parts.

    Here are some huge musicals:

Aida, Fiddler on the Roof, Scarlet Pimpernel, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Music Man, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, My Fair Lady, Brigadoon, West Side Story,
