Im a musician and I hate being on stage, I really don't like it. I think I may just pack it in and be behind the scenes, as being on stage freaks me out

  1. I am a musician, play many instruments, and have done since I was a little boy...everyone always expects that along with musical ability comes the want to perform, but I dont have it at all....get yourself a decent PC, get the decent Cubase recording package and Reason (the drum machine and sequencer program) and you can investigate home writing and recording, thats what I do now.  Its tough being a guitarist that hates performing, as everyone wants you to sing them a song...good luck to you

  2. Don't be freaked out! Concentrate on doing what you love the most and enjoy sharing your talents. Plus, if the lights are on the way they're supposed to, you won't see your audience--all you see is blinding lights. So if anything, just pretend they're not there and play your music!

  3. Ok, what do you play? how long have you been doing it for?

If you play guitar or bass you can easily hide behind an amp or something... Drummer? lower your drum stool ;)

Seriously, if you are new to it all, it'll take time to get used to it, if you have been doing it for years, maybe it's not for you. I wouldn't pack it all in tho, maybe you need that one night where you get that buzz i get... i can't get enough of the stage then.

If i was you, i would get yourself some recording gear, record some of your own songs, or even covers, make yourself a musicians myspace page, put them on there, and even put yourself on youtube. Atleast that way you are still "performing" but it's takes the edge off from being on stage.

    Good luck
