here is a Q and A on the topic:

Fasting For The Pregnant or Breastfeeding Woman

    Question:

Regarding the pregnant woman and the breastfeeding woman; if they fear for themselves or upon the child during the month of Ramadhaan – such that they eat, what then is due upon them? Should they eat and feed others (i.e. to the poor) and make up the fasts or should they eat and make up the fasts and not feed others or should they eat and feed others not make up for them? What is correct from these three?

    Answer:

If the pregnant woman fears for herself or for her baby for the reason of fasting during Ramadhaan; then she should eat and upon her is to make up for them only. Her state in that is similar to the state of the one who is sick and is unable to find strength to fast – or that he fears some harm upon himself.

    Allaah The Most High says:

((And whosoever is sick or is upon a journey; then the period is made up from other days…)) [Soorah Al-Baqarah: 185]

Likewise is the case for the breastfeeding woman if she fears for herself when she breastfeeds her child during Ramadhaan. Or that she fears upon her child if she were to fast and not breastfeed him – then she is to eat and upon her is to make up for them only.

  2. You are exempted from fasting.

  3. thats very good u became a muslim am very happy...that makes me smile... :) ...yea ur suppose to fast but ifu cant handle it...break it and keep it wen u done get ur baby...mashallah ur pregnant am happy for u...r u happy?????do u love children(i ♥ children)....am just askin, if u dont feel comfortable answerin thats ok...good luck... :)

  4. Being pregnant you are not required to fast if you think it will effect either your health or the health of your baby. You should consult your Doctor first. If they say its better you don't then Allah is all knowing and all forgiving and you don't need to fast.

Peace to you and good luck with your baby Insha Allah :)

    EDIT

Please sister just ignore "I love Iran" HE is just jealous your a beautiful woman carrying a child and those are 2 things he will never know. Jealousy is a terrible thing. Ignore HIM!

  5. Wa'alaikumsalam WRWB.

Yes, if it harms you or your child you can break the fast and make it up later.

  6. welcome to Islam

may Allah give u long live  fill ur  life with happiness  (AMEEN)

  7. your not asked to fast during ramadan when being pregnant please don't take advice from ''love from iran'' congrats on your baby

  8. According to Quran and Hadiths, you can skip the fast of Ramadan due to pregnancy. But you have to keep those fasts later on before the next Ramadan.

  9. sister if you are pregnant then you can break the fast but it's better not to fast rather that fasting and the breaking it.

but you have to complete the fasts you have missed during the ramadaan before the next ramadaan.

there is no problem if you break the fast or do not fast in this situation.

    salam alykum.

  10. you don't fast in the first place if you're pregnant.

  11. how come only sisters are allowed to answer this ?

we the men we want ajar too !!

  12. Walaikum Assalam sister

yes, you can. you can even miss your fasts if you think that would harm u or your baby.

You can cover your missed fasts later in life insha'Allah.

The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) said: "Allaah has relieved the travelers of fasting and half of the prayer, and the pregnant and breast-feeding women of the fast". [Ahmad, and others]. Allaah Says (which means): {…So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them]-then an equal number of days [are to be made up] …}[Quran 2:184].

If such a woman fears only for the baby, then she has to pay an expiation (i.e. feeding a poor person) in addition to making up the missed days at later date.

. Pregnant or breast-feeding women, if they fear for their children can do likewise'. [Abu Daawood]

Therefore, if you fear for yourself then you may break or miss your fast and should make it up later and you are not obliged to pay an expiation for it.

    Rest Allah knows the best~!

  13. If it harms you or the child, then you shouldn't fast. But you will have to fast the days you missed.

    Bless:)

  14. Congratulaions Mashallah

    May Allah bless you ameen.

  15. the concensus of the scholars is that if you feel fasting will be a hardship for you or your baby then you are not obliged to fast.  However you must make up the fast later on and Allah swt knows best.
