  1. Alcohol is prohibited in the Quran only in the case of consummation. So pimple cream would not count as going against the Quran.

  2. You can still use the product.

  3. The scholars have different understandings and opinions on the topic of using alcohol.

Some have understood alcohol to be completely najis(impure), and some has understood it to be only harful to be ingested.  Therefore, according to one opinion, nothing wrong with one using a cream with alcohol (either praying or not), and according to the other opinion, you should stay away from using it completely.

But even so, the scholars have differed farther into the matter.  Therefore you must seek knowledge on the topic before speaking about it, and following it.  Or if you get a chance, ask a good scholar.

    EDIT:

    you are welcome!

and actually what umm abdel hamid said is true, at the same time, eventhough it might not fall under khamr/intoxicating, it can still be a haram substance due to its harmful nature.  cosmetics are well known to have a lot of adverse effects.

Before you say a particular alcohol product is permissible or not, you have to determine the type of "alcohol" it is.  The term in Arabic is "khamr", which means any intoxicating beverage, such as beer, wine, fermented dates, or Scope mouthwash or vanilla extract.  These items are all or all contain alcohol as it is defined in Islam.

There are other things that are called alcohol in English that are not "khamr".  Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol is one example.  It is scientifically an alcohol because of its chemical composition but it is not "khamr" because it is a poison that cannot be ingested.  A perfume or medicine containing this type of alcohol is perfectly permissible for use.  There are other types of alcohol, such as stearyl and methyl, and as far as I know none are recommended for drinking, as you will die of poisoning before you become intoxicated.  Thus they do not qualify as "khamr".  And Allah knows best.
