I know that the month of ramadan for muslims is not about losing weight, but more about knowing what poor people who can't afford food feel like everyday, but do you lose weight during this month, and if so, how much?

  1. more like gain.

  2. It depends on your caloric intake in the morning and at night, but I would advise anyone to eat the amount of calories they are supposed to be eating daily and break it in half between morning and night. Your body is like a furnace and needs to keep burning, and when you stop putting fuel into it, it goes into starvation mode and burns the calories much slower than it would if you were eating regularly. This means the food stays in your system longer giving it more chance to absorb fat. It also screws with your metabolism when you don't get the amount of calories your body needs to function. So try to eat at least 2000 calories a day when fasting to ensure healthy functioning.

  3. nope. i maintain a steady weight. no lose or gain

  4. yea and its like supposed to clean ur system or something it's really healthy for ur body to fast

  5. ummm from all the oily foods we eat at iftaar (time to break fast)??? =O never. =P

some may lose weight, some may not. depends what you eat at sunrise and sunset.

  6. huh.....I GAIN.....i make up for it in food...i dont get like fat/obese...just curvier...because i eat later in the day and i get a snack before i sleep ;)

  7. People usually gain weight during this month b/c they eat excessively when they break their fast.

  8. i think i gain! All that extra junk we eat that we crave? Where do you think it goes? Lol.

  9. it deppend on the meals u eat

  10. Salam for you my dear sister. It depends on its menu during ramadan .So if someone eats and drinks  heavier menu

than in his/her normal menu,he/she will increase his/her weight But if someone eats his/her in normal daily menu before ramadan so he/she will lose his/her weight or at least he/she maintains his/her normal weight.

  11. First of all we fast in Ramadan to know how our Prophets and his family( Ahlil Bayt) felt when they we being starved and it reminds us of how blessed we are to have food. Second, it depends on how much you eat when you break your fast at night, like if you eat a heavy meal, which is most likely. Usually you dont lose weight although you may think so because your fasting and all but no i usually gain weight. And third idk what those other answers were about but you should DEFINITLY NOT join sports or anything like that just to lose weight thats crazy because your already fasting as it is, dont take the chance of dehydration. k hope it helps!!

  12. it depends.

some have heavy meals when its time to aftur.

    but i usually do.

  13. yeah, i lose weight. but i realllyy can't lose weight cuz i am already too thin so i have to eat extra extra food.

  14. i fast every ramadan and i only lost about 2 pounds.

  15. Oooh I hope I lose weight during Ramadan. I'm not big by any stretch, but I want to be lots skinner. :)

  16. DUHH!! i lose a lot every year. Last year, i lost 12 pounds without any sports. Now im joining cross-country during ramadon so i will lose more!

  17. NO! omy goodness, in Ramadan people tend to mostly gain wheight because they are allowed to eat only after sunset and before sunrise so you know how it's bad to eat late cause you don't do much actiivty and all the food just sits in your stomach? And because people asre so hungry they crave deserts and stuff, so no I'd say a lot of people i know just gain weight. But if youre a very weak eater, and you dont eat much, like my sister, then you can possibly lose weight and i remember her losing 2 kilos last ramadan. Hope that answered your question :)

  18. oh I know this one

I have fast several time and will again this year this time I am fasting the whole month cuz I've turned 12

    well of course

well what they do is they wake up really early and eat then probaly go back to sleep wake up and no food  eat or drink nothing ,no water ,after sunset arrives it is time to break the fast  ya  they feast and eat it up

well u should lose at least 2pounds in ramadan at most like about 14lbs (I think) just a guess

it depends on how much u eat at sunrise and sunset

well I would eat it up (lol)

but ya u should lose some weight

  19. i gain weight cuz i just fill up my plate to much and its like night time so most people sleep on it. but i just go to the masjid and do taraweh. but i still gain tons of weight

  20. well its suppose to be restraint from food and not eat *too much in the evening, night and dawn.... we are suppose to eat healthy, and it is good for one's health if done right.

but ppl sometimes eat too much, and often eat fried food and not healthy.

    So it varies.

And I have nothing to loose in my body lol, so I doubt I loose any weight... probably while i'm empty stomach, and probably goes back up again as soon as I eat...

eventhough i always tried eating healthy, it doesn't work when everyone at home eats the fried stuff.  so this year i'm looking fwd to eating healthy and see if the benefits are obvious.

    *smile

  21. mine's tend to stay the same possibly because the last several ramadans were during winter time.  This time it will be during a Autumn and the weather would still be hot so i think i might lose some weight this year

  22. I end up gaining weight because of all the rich foods for dinner, especially since I eat at the Masjid everyday, and the people providing dinner cater from restaurants a lot. Also, it's because of all the snacks and deserts after a tough day of fasting, and eating a lot throughout the night and in the morning as well.

Insha'Allah this year I'll try to keep my eating in moderation, and maybe even lose some weight. But of course, the purpose of Ramadan is not to gain or lose weight, but use it as a time of reflection, doing good deeds, and refueling our Iman for the upcoming 11 months.

  23. yes im sure every muslim  doez, even a lil bit!

  24. i lose a lot of weight in the beginning of Ramadan but near the end my body seems to get used to fasting and i stop losing weight

  25. I don't loose weight no.  Infact by the end of ramadan the fat goes to muscle and I look much better than before I fasted.

    Thanks for the great question!

Too many muslims over weight these days.  May Allah help them do some exersise and get off the water pipe.
