Question:

Muslims: When you're rich...?

...You can't be happy right? Because then there's no fairness in the world and not everyone is equal. So when you're poor you can't be anything but happy and when you're rich you can't be anything but sad and depressed?

I don't mean to sound boastful and conceited but I am somewhat well-off and I am almost always depressed. So I just wanted to make it clear..even if I wanted to be happy...I can never be happy can I? Because then nothing is fair.

And I guess anyone of any religion can answer this but I would prefer a Muslim seeing that I am one myself and so we somewhat share the same views I suppose.

Sorry if this sounds like a bunch of rubbish..but please answer, if you will.

Thank you.

  1. Islam is not against getting rich in a very, very, very honest way.

And a person is very depressed if he or she makes money using dishonest (cheating, smuggling, stealing et al) way ... ISLAM PUNISHES HIM OR HER IN THIS FASHION!

However, if you have made money the honest way, which I presune you have, then you are disregarding one of the main pillars that has and is making it a 'Shining Religion': Zakat or donation (just 2 1/2% of the money left over every year with you after meeting all your expenses) ... There are very many, many poor Muslims around you. Share your wealth (just two-and-a half percent) with them and see your face begin to radiate with happiness; bringing cheer to you!

  2. I know this is going to sound like an old warn out line.  But it really is true, rich or poor, famous or unknown, no matter where you are in a jail cell or totally free, happiness comes from within.  From our soul out to the world NOT from the world in to our soul.

I guess part of the problem these days is that people more and more often equate happiness with things, artificial pleasures, or physical happiness as if somehow we can buy happiness.  The reality is that happiness comes from within ourselves, we can enjoy what we have, try to do what is truly right/honest in the process hopefully build a better world not only for ourselves but everyone, or we can make ourselves miserable wanting and trying to get things or using artificial means to make our bodies “feel good”.

    Just something to think about.

May Our Creator watch over you and your family.

  3. im happy. as long as i know what to do.

  4. Ure always depressed? U need take ur time to think all the way back why do u feel that way. If only u could be more open n have positive thought, im sure u'll be ok.

I think ur problem is even deeper than viewing that life is unfair. We need to keep the balance of the world. We're in a rolling wheel. Therell be time u gonna feel happy n depress. But u shouldnt let urself drown in neither. When ure happy, God will take ur happiness. When ure sad, God will take ur sadness. So be aware n always grateful for what God gave us. Will it make u happy even just for a second when u see someone is sincerely smiling at u?

  5. That is complete "rubbish". Money can complicate things, and can ruin relationships, and yeah money is a little evil, but it doesn't matter how much money you have, it's who you're with that matters. Maybe you're not close enough with your family or don't have any good support. Or maybe you're just depressed. I'm very well-off and I couldn't be happier.

  6. Yes you can be happy! However what is not good is when your are boasting and conceited about your wealth and you forget who gave it to you to begin with( Allah)

The reason why you are not happy being rich is on the Day of Judgment you will be asked what did you do with your wealth? did you give charity out of what you have and helped the needy as God put you in a position to?

It's not the Wealth that you are not happy about it's the responsibilities that come with being rich and consequences on the Day of judgment. Will look for more If Allah Wills :)

    hope this helped

  7. why is it that you are sad and depressed? if i was rich i would be so happy and content. there must be something that is making you sad and depressed, something MORE so than just "no fairness in the world"
