Question:

Muslims: Which country are you from and what types of food do people of that country eat?

I want to try something new for ramadan and iftaar you see. So please tell me which country do you originate from and what kinds of food is served there at iftaar time!

  1. I am from America. I went to Morocco last year and learn to cook the food. I love Moroccan food Yum.


  2. I am French married to a Malaysian, so I cook French and/or Malaysian food (which also includes Indian). we buy lots of pastries made with coconut milk. the food in malaysia is spicy, and very varied (fish, prawns, squid, chicken, beef, lamb).  

  3. I am from Canada and England. ( long story short I go  to school in London -  home in Canada.)

    My dad makes this really good spicy lamb dish for Ramadan.... I look forward to it all year.. Lol.

  4. Well i'm from London and i eat umm Turkish food, i'm not fond of curries and indian food :P

    Eat some Baklava for iftarr tasty!!

  5. I'm from Pakistan but live in the UK. At iftaar, dates are obviously a must, we also almost always have pikoray and fruit chaat, sometimes samosas and dehi bullay as well.

  6. im from lebanon and i live in Canada. my mom would make something like tabouleh with kabobs and steak. also we would eat some cuscusi {though its not lebanese food}.

    try to search for : recipes from around the world.

    idk im just guessing about the searching though. hope it does work.

  7. UK and they eat fish & chips, Shepherd's Pie and Yorkshire Pudding.

    But I'm Pakistani and we make these foods during Ramadhan:

    samosas, pakoras, kebabs, chappatti, that yellow chappatti, lassi (dunno English word for it), chicken curry, brown rice, sweet rice, white rice with chickpeas, minced meat with potato and peas, luchi (dunno English word for it), lentils, halwa (dunno English word for it), fruit chaat, vegetable spring rolls, roast chicken...

    that's what I can remember so far.

    for iftar we eat:

    pakoras, dahi baray, fruit chat, spicy chickpeas, and thats all i can remember.

    we are usually so full after eating all that, that we dont eat dinner at all. LOL!

  10. I'm from the United States (New York City) and all kinds of foods are given out throughout the month of Ramadhan.

    I sample everything, especially dishes from other countries(Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia).

    all sorts of food, some arab food. but mainly native moroccan food.

    tagine, marka, cous-cous etc etc.

    we usualy have dates milk, then some mafrouck, like a bread. some harira which is the famous moroccan (red) soup. if we are lucky also some keffta which is seasened miced meast mmmh and some koubse, which is moroccan bread.

    me loving my coffee i alwasy have a cup of moroccan coffee which has a fresh cinomen stick in it.

  13. i am from egypt and here they are fond of everything!

    most familes here have a duck for the first day iftar(i dunno why the duck),with stuffed vegies which are called ''Mahshy''

    it's a famous egyptian dish,where u stuff zucchini,eggplant,pepper,grave leaves,cabbage..etc with a mixture of rice,tomatoe,onions,and green herbs(all chopped) and then cook them..yummy!

    hot dogs, hamburgers, anything fast food, apple pie...

    but no seriously, every ramadan i buy a new cook book from a specific country and try their foods. last year i did turkish, this year i want to do indian.

    We eat arabic food like maklooba, mansef, warak dawali (wrapped grapes leaves mmmmmm my fave) and Soups such as addas and freeka lol im hungry now

    and here there are basically indian foods, african, european and pourtuguese

    because here there are all descendats from the various ethnic groups

    but at home my mum cooks indian food...yummmmmmmm

    i really like indian food out of all

    BTW here they dont cook indian foods as they are supposed to

    they add their own flavour and well....it just isnt the same

  22. Pakistan. Aftar time...hmmm...SAMOSAS!!! Yummy. Pakoras, dahi baray, chanay ki chaat, bhel puri, shami kabob, fruit chat...Google them and you'll find recipes.

They really are not reliable, most of them are labeled as "authentic" food, but rather they are infusions. I will send you an email in a few moments, inshallah.

    we eat biryani, rice, pakorai, samosay, chana chat, friut chat, french fries, umm saalan, chicken, etc

    but i don eat everything on the list...

  26. um in ireland they basically boil everything, so its easy for ramadan! cabbage, potatoes, carrots, kale, etc. maybe a stew. sheperds pie. lool. pretty simple food. oh yeah, fish and chips!!!

    As for what I eat, what do you think a Spider eats?

    I already have to deal with this existing ignorance here why would I want to deal with more ignorance to come at me and my home town.  Surely there is "POINT" in which all birds go!  If you have a brain and use it, you will know where I am :)

  28. U.S.------Basically chicken wings, roasted chicken, baryani, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, and don't forget salad with lemon juice and vinegar. Oh man, I'm drooling over here =)
