Matthew 5:17-18

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Here is Jesus saying "not the least stroke of pen will disappear from the law".

Why did he say this? I thought he knew the Torah was corrupted?

And doesn't this contradict the Quran's saying that the Torah has been corrupted?

Straight to the point please.

  1. can i first know what religion u follow?

    Ok

here's the deal.  We know some laws have been changed in the bible that are still practiced by the jews. So one possibility is that the quote u mentioned is corrupt?

2nd exp.  Jesus (as) is referring to the laws specifically in this quote, not the torah, which are pretty much the same as the muslim laws.

  2. Here is My advice, Take a 5 different bibles from random places, and compare them, you will find that there are many differences and contradictions.

Then do the same with the quran, you will not find one dot out of its place, really try it.

then tell me what you think.

There are no Modifications in the quran, simply for the respect we have for allahs words, you never find a quraan thrown on the floor or being aboused like some bibles are.

so who knows if those are all the true words of god, or just the true words of human.

  3. it doesn't contradict the QURAN, coz the Torah wasn't corrupted during Jesus's(as) time .

    here an Aya(verse) say so

    { ويعلمه الكتاب والحكمة والتوراة والإنجيل }

    -سورة آل عمران-

    48. And He (Allâh) will teach him ['Iesa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).

the verse is clear , the Torah wasn't corrupted during Issa's(as) time , u r only wasting ur time son

  4. This verse does not justify  Torah to be uncorrupted. This verse tells something which makes you Muslim. This verse tells that a person who is meant to Follow Jesus PBUH, is meant to follow all the laws given in Torah. He can't go to heaven by just having faith in him, whether being God or Prophet etc.

This is what taught in Quran, the criteria to go to heaven.

103:1 CONSIDER the flight of time!

103:2 Verily, man is bound to lose himself

103:3 unless he be of those who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity.

    And:

3:32 Say: “pay heed unto God and the Apostle.” And if they turn away - verely, God does not love those who deny the truth.

3:132 And pay heed unto God and the Apostle, so that you might be graced with mercy.

    This makes you a Muslim.

  5. "Not the least stroke of pen," has disappeared. It has been preserved in the Qur'an. Even though former texts have been corrupted Allah (swt) has left us with a reliable text, The Qur'an. Wasn't that nice?

  6. Boring ! Question ! I feel sleepy   ; Gud Nit n Tke Cre !

"`How can you say, "We [the Jews] are wise, for we have the law of the LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?' (From the NIV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"

The Revised Standard Version makes even clearer: "How can you say, 'We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us'? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.   (From the RSV Bible, Jeremiah 8:8)"

In either translation, we clearly see that the Jews had so much corrupted the Bible with their man-made cultural laws, that they had turned the Bible into a lie!  See Also Deuteronomy 31:25-29 where Moses peace be upon him predicted the corruption/tampering of the Law (Bible) after his death.  The Book of Moses predicted that the Law (Bible) will get corrupted.  The Book of Jeremiah which came approximately 826 years after did indeed confirm this corruption.

  7. thats the thing i dont explain it

  8. Like all the  other religions in the world, Judaism has been corrupted by the human trend of distorting God's words in the scripture. Judaism  as practiced by the majority of the Jews today is not the religion authorized by God in the Torah , but a newly formalized belief system based on man-made innovations and corruptions recorded in the "man-made" Talmud. Similar corruptions by man-made books and laws can be seen in Today's Christianity (e.g. Trinity) and traditional Islam (e.g. Hadith and Sunna).

In the Quran, God's Final Testament, God teaches us:

"We have sent down the Torah, containing guidance and light. Ruling in accordance with it were the Jewish prophets, as well as the rabbis and priests, as dictated to them in God's scripture, and as witnessed by them. Therefore, do not reverence human beings; you shall reverence Me instead. And DO NOT TRADE AWAY MY REVELATIONS for a cheap price. Those who do not rule in accordance with God's REVELATIONS (Torah, Gospel, & Quran) are the DISBELIEVERS."  Quran 5:44

As it turned out, the Torah has been disregarded in favor of the man-made books of the Talmud and other similar rabbinic books, the Torah has been traded for the Talmud.

The Talmud (Hebrew for teaching or study) is described in the Encyclopedia as a vast compendium of Jewish law and lore, a sequel to the Hebrew Bible, and the basis of Jewish religious life. Talmud for all practical reasons has became the number one source of Jewish religious laws . It consists of the MISHNA and Gemara . The MISHNA recorded the teachings, sayings, interpretations , explanations of many rabbis. The GEMARA (Aramaic for tradition or learning) recorded the description of actions as done , recommended, shown or represented by the Rabbis.. There are two Gemaras, the Palestinian Gemara , a product of the 3d and 4th centuries AD, and the Babylonian Gemara, completed about 499, with some later additions. From the 5th century, the Babylonian Talmud was generally accepted as the authoritative source of law (instead of the book of God, the Torah, that should have been the authoritative source of everything).

We are at the era of the TRUTH. God promised to produce for the people a creature that speaks the truth, (Quran 72:28) and He gave us the computer and the World Wide Web connections to give the truth to the whole world. Falsehood have no place to hide anymore. The truth will be given to everyone to ponder on, and with it our responsibilities will markedly increase.

this  presents the unknown side of the Talmud. It is a clear example of the human trend of corruption of a great religion of God, Judaism. This site, by no means, supports hatred towards the Jews or any religious group and is not anti- anything except the falsehood. We only mean to give the truth. We are to live in peace in this world with all the people who have different beliefs and understanding of their religions as long as they respect this peace and other people's beliefs as well. It is mandatory on all the truth seekers to verify the information given to them as per

[17:36] You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.

  9. I won't try to re-interpret the Bible. However, when Muslims say the Bible has been changed, that is wrong. The Bible HAS changed. It isn't like there was once a true Bible and now there is a wrong Bible. Any Christian knows that the word Bible is not found in the Bible. It is a collection of 66 books which have been written by different authors who said (or are reported to have said) they were inspired of God.

Now, the charges made in the Qur'an against SOME Jews and Christians doesn't say anything about the Bible but it is talking about scripture. It explains different way which are taken by SOME Jews and Christians that corrupt the teachings of their prophets (pbut). Among those charges are that they write things by their own hands and they claim that it has come from God. Another thing is that they change the meanings of the words or they conceal meanings.

Coming to your question, I don't think that has any conflict with what the Qur'an says. There may still be truth in the Bible, but you can't say that all of the Bible is true. I fail to see anything wrong in those words of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) (if they actually are his words).

Even Jeremiah told the Jews that they were writing their own material claiming it came from God:

Jeremiah 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes hath wrought falsely.

Sorry if I interpreted that Bible verse wrongfully. I'm not qualified to interpret it. But Jeremiah is either saying they are writing things and claiming its divine origin or that they are misinterpreting it. Sorry if I got that wrong.

    Of course he did.

  10. We don't believe in the corrupted Bible so don't give us evidence from it.

Well considering the fact that there are many sects of Christianity in which they have their own version of the Bible, you can't possibly tell me that the Bible is unchanged. whilist Islam despite some of the sects there is only one Qu'ran and one Qu'ran only.

OMG, I fully said Islam has sects but still the same Qu'ran...can you PLEASE read my answers carefully.

  11. dude theres something called the hundred minute bible. have u ever heard of the hundred minute quran.

  12. When the routine bites hard

    And ambitions are low

    And the resentment rides high

    But emotions wont grow

    And were changing our ways,

    Taking different roads

Then love, love will tear us apart again

  13. 1. On what basis you assme that Torah was corrupted at the time of Jesus. Muslim never claimes that. We do not know at what point Torah was corrupted.

    2. Jesus himself recieved revelation and capable of correcting errors in Torah by Gospel.

    3. We are not compelled to believe what is written in existing gosepl we do not accept the authenticity existing text.

  14. I'm not good at old-style english but here's the deal:

The NT was written by disciples of Jesus, meaning humans. Its hard to trust what some humans say.

We believe the bible was corrupted so we can't say that that verse is true.

Honestly, i really couldn't give a sandwich about that verse.

    EDIT:

The Bible is a collection of writings done in different periods of history, by different writers. The various denominations of Christianity are not in agreement on the canon (the list of books accepted by the Church as authoritative or divinely inspired) of the Christian Bible.

While most of these books are agreed upon by almost all Christians, there are some books that are not universally accepted. The Protestants call them Apocrypha and reject them; while the Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox Church call them Deuterocanonical Books (second canon) and accept them as divinely inspired.

The Catholic Encyclopedia has this to say on the topic:

“The idea of a complete and clear-cut canon of the New Testament existing from the beginning, that is from Apostolic times, has no foundation in history. The Canon of the New Testament, like that of the Old, is the result of a development, of a process at once stimulated by disputes with doubters, both within and without the Church, and retarded by certain obscurities and natural hesitations, and which did not reach its final term until the dogmatic definition of the Tridentine Council.”

About the earliest existing texts of the Bible, too, there is a lot of confusion. The oldest extant manuscript of the Bible is believed to be the Codex Vaticanus (preserved in the Vatican Library), which is slightly older than the Codex Sinaiticus (preserved in the British Library), both of which were transcribed in the fourth century.

As for the story of Jesus, there were at least 50 gospels written in the first and second century CE. Four of them—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—were included in the official canon during the fourth century CE and are found today in every Bible. All of the original copies of the gospels were lost. What we have now are hand-written copies which are an unknown number of replications removed from the originals.

After Jesus’s time, there came to be two sects of Christians: those who followed St. Paul (who is the real founder of modern Christianity) and those who followed the Apostles of Jesus. In course of time, the Pauline sect overshadowed the Apostles’ sect. So Paul’s own writings, as well as the Gospels written under his influence, came to be accepted by the later Christian Church as Scripture.

Rudolf Bultmann, a prominent 20th-century professor of New Testament studies, writes:

“We can now know almost nothing concerning the life and personality of Jesus, since the early Christian sources show no interest in either, are moreover fragmentary and often legendary; and other sources about Jesus do not exist” (Rudolf Bultmann, Jesus and the Word, p. 8).

The earliest of the four gospels is Mark’s and this was written sometime from 57 to 75 CE, according to scholars. The other gospels were composed much later than this, and the last of the four gospels, John’s, was probably written between 85 and 100 CE. All these gospels were originally in Greek and their authorship is a subject of dispute.

The Bible does not contain self-reference; that is, the word Bible is not in the Bible. In fact, it is an extreme position held only by some Christian groups that the Bible—in its entirety—is the revealed word of God. But the presence of so many contradictions and patently questionable ideas makes this claim untenable.

  15. Thats just what we call a contradiction and Islamic tradition indicates that whenever there is conflicting passages (frequent) then you get to pick and choose what you want to believe to further your own agenda! There are so many contradictions in our Quran but that makes it the perfect book for my agenda "peace" or very easily be corrupted into a doctrine of Quran justified MURDER/SUICIDE.

  16. here read this

In the Qur'an, God mentioned how He revealed the Torah to Prophet Moses. After the death of Prophet Moses, God entrusted scholars and rabbis with His Scriptures. God says in the Qur'an what means:

*{Verily, it is We who bestowed from on high the Torah, wherein there was guidance and light. On its strength did the prophets, who had surrendered themselves unto God, deliver judgment unto those who followed the Jewish faith; and so did the (early) men of God and the rabbis, inasmuch as some of God's writ had been entrusted to their care; and they [all] bore witness to its truth. Therefore, [O children of Israel,] hold not men in awe, but stand in awe of Me; and do not barter away My messages for a trifling gain: for they who do not judge in accordance with what God has bestowed from on high are, indeed, deniers of the truth!}* (Al-Ma'idah 5:44)

In these verses, God is saying that He "entrusted" scholars and rabbis with His Scriptures and warned them not to give up the message for any worldly gain. What happened is that some of them did not keep the trust, and they started a long process of distortion of God's message for the sake of gaining some little worldly gains. The wisdom and rationale is to give a lesson to us believers who came after them and received our own message. The lesson is that we are not to distort the message of God by any means for any personal gain, small or big. God also explained the process of how some scholars who were entrusted with His book distorted it. And this is where we Muslims should specifically pay attention in order not to fall into the same mistake.

God is teaching Muslims (those who peacefully submit to their Creator) by the example of previous nations. God told us how some "scholars" made a conscious choice of distortion of the word of God. The Qur'an says what means:

*{...a good many of them were to listen to the word of God and then, after having understood it, to pervert it knowingly.}* (Al-Baqarah 2:75)

So they started to "pervert" or "distort" the Scripture with full knowledge and awareness of what they were doing. This is a lesson to Muslims — those who follow the final divine message — and to all believers, to be aware that some "specialist" might not have pure intentions, even towards God's word.

God is also teaching us another lesson in regards to the specific method that was used in this distortion, also for us to be aware. It is taking the verses "out of context" in the name of interpretation. The Qur'an says what means:

*{Then, for having broken their solemn pledge, We rejected them and caused their hearts to harden [so that now] they distort the meaning of the (revealed) words, taking them out of their context...}* (Al-Ma'idah 5:13)

The Qur'an also says what means:

*{...they distort the meaning of the (revealed) words, taking them out of their context...}* (Al-Ma'idah 5:41)

And again, the Qur'an says what means:

*{There are some of the Jews who distort the meaning of the (revealed) words, taking them out of their context...}* (An-Nisaa' 4:46)

In other words, God is repeatedly warning us from misinterpretation in the name of interpretation. If a verse is interpreted out of its context, by taking a few words and cutting out the rest, or even by taking the verse out of its historical or linguistic context, then this is a form of distortion as serious as hiding the whole verse.

If we take the Bible as an example, the process of distortion, in my personal view, was a process of interpretation that happened through translation. When you translate something from one language to another, you are actually giving your own interpretation in the target language of translation, which interpretation could be accurate or distorted, that is, close to or far from the original meaning.

This is one of the lessons that we Muslims are to learn as well. The Qur'an should certainly remain in Arabic. Yes, we have to translate its meanings as accurately as we can for many practical reasons (writing articles in English is one of them!). But the original Arabic Scripture has to remain preserved. The way by which Islam preserved its Scripture was to encourage millions of people, in every era, to memorize it by heart and be vigilant to the slightest distortion in it. This is not what happened with the Bible, unfortunately, and what we have now is an English translation of the Greek translation of the original language. The original (Jesus's Aramaic and Moses's Hebrew) is lost.

Finally, God is not powerless when He allows His Scriptures to be distorted. There are many evils that happen on this earth, including distorting the Scriptures, that God could prevent. However, God, in His wisdom, created good and evil and gave us the choice. This is our test in life.

edit: well you want an explanation don't you

edit: did u expect an explanation of something that happens over many centuries to be short??
