Muslims - please explain why and how the Qu'ran is indeed a miraculous book?

I would just like you to explain (Without any science stuff) how the Qu'ran is indeed the miracle you proclaim it to be.

The Muslim belief is that Muhammad's miracle is the Qu'ran, thereby verifying his prophethood, as well as its divine status.

So, is this just a belief that Muslims have or is it truly a miraculous book? Why and how is it miraculous?

Things to leave out:

1) Scientific foreknowledge

2) Muhammad was illiterate (seeing we don't know this for historical fact. Unless there is any hadith saying he is illiterate. Please quote them).

If the Qu'ran is the word of God, then there should be evidence that it is such a divine miracle. Thus it is the belief of every Muslim that it's a miracle, but is this their faith or is their evidence of this?

Again, I've heard all the scientific-miracles stuff. Please don't repeat it.

Please try to give me a sensible, intelligent explanation as to why the Qu'ran is clearly a miracle. It may thereby convince me that it is indeed the word of God.

Please explain why the Qu'ran is indeed the true word of God.

    1. Test of Quran penetrates into the hearts and minds and it is easy to memorize the text  even if we don't know the language and neither understand the meanings of the test.

    2. Between age 6 & 7 I memorized Juz 30, 1 2, & 3  of Quran.  My mother tongue was not even close to Arabic.  I didn't understand one word of Quran  what it meant.  Lots of American converts easily can memorize Quranic Ayahs though they don't know meanings.  People speaking every language  from Algeria to China and Japan are able to memorize  Surahs of Quran more easily  than memorizing pages w

    written in their own mother tongues.  It is a significant miracle of Quran that Allah has instilled in the message of Quran.

    3. Reading Quran makes our soul relaxed and in peace.

Words of Quran has such a music that  when  Momins ( pious and righteious people)  when hear Azaan in beautiful voice, their eyes have tears hearing the words Allah and Mohammadur Rasoolallah and when Azaan caller says Hiya Alas Salah and Hiya Alal Falah (Meanings come for prayers to Allah, come for the success of life on earth and life in Heareafter).  Such people often start crying reciting

    Surah Al-Fatiah during their prayers  which is direct talking with Alloah SWT.

    Most probably brothers have written scientific information in Quran as mircale of Quran also  as a proof that Quran is Divine Revelation from Allah to His Messenger Mohammad SAW  because he not knowing how to read or write could not have the knowledge of Embryology that Allah  explains in  Quran   and many more which brothers must have already explained in their answers.  So I will not repeat those points.

    And also, God challenges those who disbelieve by saying this:

    "If you have doubts about what We have sent down to Our servant, produce another sura equal to it, and call your witnesses, besides Allah, if you are telling the truth."

    Yunus {10:38}

    "Do they say, "He has invented it"? Say: "Then produce a sura like it and call on anyone you can besides Allah if you are telling the truth."

    ---In those 2 verses, God clearly states that those who are in denial of the Qur'an should take as many skills as they have and try to produce one single chapter like it; many people have done this & they have failed. Many people have tried to reveal contradictions in the Qur'an and they have failed. That is also why there are many Muslim converts these days.

  4. woowwwww. you have a lot of reading to do. but first let me say i was a christian skeptical about my own religion because of the inconsistencies that are present in christianity...basically nothing made sense. currently i am worshipping as a muslim and can't find any inconsistencies in it.i did a lot of studying that took up a whole year of my life and it all started from one question...if jesus was jewish why does he have a pagan name? first if you are a christian before you even get into the Qu'ran you should read a book called the Misquotes of Jesus. It will explain every detail of the bible that has been changed and therefore does not make sense. also someone suggested a website futher up on the post that is helpful. there are several versus in the christian bible that specifically speak of muhammad. one such verse is a quote by jesus which i believe says after me there will come another and he will be a comforter. this verse is highly incorrect, for one hebrew is often mistranslated into english...the hebrew word to prophet is often mistranslated in the bible to mean comforter and thus is mistaken for the holy spirit. jesus was not speaking of a holy spirit it was speaking of the next prophet. the verse goes on to say the next prophet will be from among your brothers....who are the brothers of the hebrews? there brothers are the muslims. therefore the next prophet after jesus would be a muslim. the bible also goes on to state how you would recognize that prophet...he would come with ten thousands from MECCA (Paran). Muhammad (pbuh) fulfilled this prophecy. Muhammad's wife came from a hebrew family this will be relevant momentarily. When he started receiving these revelations they scared him because he did not know God. he came from a people who worshipped 360 different gods. He went to his wifes uncle i believe and his HEBREW uncle in-law confirmed that he was hearing from the one true God and that he was the next prophet. My question to you is how could the Byzantine King who was a christian and a Hebrew both confirm the prophethood of Muhammad and the miracle of his book if it wasn't a miracle. I can give you one more example. Muhammed's  followers were in exile and were sent to the King of the Byzantine Empire who was a christian. The current leaders of Mecca also went to the king to intercede and convince the king that the Qu'ran was blasphemous and that the followers should be returned to mecca as slaves. When the king asked what the Qu'ran had to say about jesus and mary. the followers answered with a verse confirming that jesus was a prophet and was born a virgin birth. the king was so impressed by the eloquence of the book written by an illiterate and the truth that it told and how it paralleled some of christian beliefs and accepted that the revelation of the book was indeed from God. The king then drew a line in the sand in front of one of the followers of Islam stating, "the differences between us are no more than this line in the sand". Again this is confirmation from a CHRISTIAN and a HEBREW. Islam does not have to be proven and neither does God. If you are meant to understand and accept this then you will. It is not the job of anyone hear to prove this to you. If your heart is meant to be receptive to this then you will be

    the miracle is that it makes sense , when you think about it you just know it's divine words. i won't go through details , but i recommend that you read explanations of the qur'an , but you have to be at least neutral because if you were just reading to look for mistakes you will misunderstand a lot of things

    p.s. believe it or not , but every question you might wonder about , serious questions, you WILL find the answer in qur'an .but you better learn arabic because translations change meanings it makes it like 'one dimensional' instead of 3d if you know what i mean , because they only translate one aspect of it , but some verses can mean several aspects  

  6. The Qur'an makes two other internal promises as well, both of which that have been fulfilled.

    One, that had the Quran been from anyone other than Allah, many contradictions would have been found in the teaching.  However, none exist.

    Second, Allah said that He sent the Qur'an, and He Himself will guard it.  Historically speaking, the Qur'an has never once been changed and is proven to be in the original form as when it was revealed.  No other religiuos book can say this.

    Third, an external promise, the Qur'an fulfilled the prophecies of the OT and NT, as well as numerous other religious scriptures with its arrival.  Hence, it was foretold historically and alhumdolillah those prophecies were fulfilled.

  7. I give you a small excercise. Find out if any of the other religious books are a word of God or are a miracle. If you find one then follw it and if you cant then accept Quran as one and follow it. Simple

  8. it is a miracle because its laws and commands are valid for all times and places forever, even some European countries' constitutions have derived their laws from the Islamic one which is based on the Qur'anic principles.  

  9. The Koran is as holy to Muslims as the Bible is to Christians. The Koran is a miraculous book because it is the sacred text of Islam, believed by Muslims to record the revelations of God to Muhammad. I hope that this helps answer your question.


  10. Well you know what?  To tell you the truth, you have to ask someone who knows the Qur'aan by memory and understands its texts and knows other information on it, such as which verse was revealed when, in which situation, where, what time etc.  Muslims have all those information recorded.

    The main miracle of the Qur'aan is the eloquence in the way it is written (in Arabic).  This is the main reason why even many literate and rich people in the time of prophet converted to Islaam from paganism.  Specially a women who was the best poet there, and noone could defeat her in the competitions.  Because of the eloquence of the language, it was clear that no human being can write in such miraculous manner. (i am sorry for not able to explain properly, but as I said, this question needs to be directed to the ones who are knowledgeable... many in this forum is teenagers, and all or almost all are average people)

    The other miraculous nature is, the Qur'aan was not revealed all at once but in a period of 23 years.  .... verses were revealed according to specific situations.(as i mentioned all info is recorded on when, where etc. it was revealed)  Also, it wasn't revealed in a continuous sequence... rather (for a random example,) one day verse 5-10 of sura # 100 was revealed, then verse 102-125 of surah # 3 was revealed, and then some other verses from other surah, and then another time verse 10-30 of surah #3 and the like.  A human being, CANNOT write in this manner.  Because we are not capable of thinking even only 5 different topics to write at once, so forget going before verses, after verses, many surahs in between etc.

    Edit: Just to say a few things... even what you wrote, the way you wrote, and the words you chose, is not eloquent, neither does it contain a new guidance, and weight in meanings and therefore is not capable of changing the heart of a whole tribe and nation, and countries in good and prosperity.

    Qur'aan is not a science book, history book or a book of forecasts etc., eventhough contains such information.

    And yes at the end, I agree with Traxxtar7, specially "Islam does not have to be proven and neither does God. If you are meant to understand and accept this then you will. It is not the job of anyone hear to prove this to you. If your heart is meant to be receptive to this then you will be".

    The Mathematical Miracle of # 19 in the Quran! any truth to this?

    "Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe" (Galileo)

    Chapter 74 of the Quran, God's Final Testament, is dedicated to the number

    19. The name of that chapter is "Al-Muddassir" (The Hidden Secret). The

    number 19 is specifically mentioned in that Chapter as a punishment for

    those who state that the scripture is human-made (74:25), and proclaims

    that the 19 is "One of the greatest" (74:35). In 74:31, the purpose of the

    number 19 is spelled out: to remove all doubt regarding the authenticity of

    the Quran, increase the faith of the believers, and to be a scientific

    punishment for hypocrites and disbelievers. However, the implication of

    this number as a proof for the authenticity of the Quran remained unknown

    for centuries. For fourteen centuries, the commentators tried in vain to

    understand the function and fulfilment of the number 19.

    In 1974, the Lord of the universe unveiled the secret of number 19 to Dr.

    Rashad Khalifa, an Egyptian-American biochemist. His four-year long

    computerized study on the Quran did not have any expected target.

    Surprisingly, he discovered the mathematically intertwined structure by

    "chance." This multifold interlocked mathematical design is a message in

    universal language. This message, providing a built-in physical evidence of

    its divine source, leaves no doubt in our heart that the Quran is The Final

    Testament.

    Before the secret is decoded

    Before the discovery of 19-based system, we knew a symmetrical mathematical

    system in the Quran. For example:

    © The word "month" (shahr) occurs 12 times.

    © The word "day" (yawm) occurs 365 times.

    © The word "days" (ayyam,yewmeyn) occurs 30 times.

    © The words "satan" (shaytan) and "angel" (malak), both occur 88 times.

    © The words "this world" (dunya) and "hereafter" (ahirah), both occur 115 times.

    Simple to understand, impossible to imitate

    The mathematical structure of the Final Testament is simple to understand

    and impossible to imitate. You do not need to know Arabic, the original

    language of the Quran to examine it for yourself. Basically what you need

    is to be able to count upto19. Dr. Khalifa introduces this supernatural

    message as follows:

    The Quran is characterized by a unique phenomenon never found in any human

    authored book. Every element of the Quran is mathematically composed-the

    chapters, the verses, the words, the number of certain letters, the number

    of words from the same root, the number and variety of divine names, the

    unique spelling of certain words, and many other elements of the Quran

    besides its content. There are two major facets of the Quran's mathematical

    system: (1) The mathematical literary composition, and (2) The mathematical

    structure involving the numbers of chapters and verses. Because of this

    comprehensive mathematical coding, the slightest distortion of the Quran's

    text or physical arrangement is immediately exposed (Quran The Final

    Testament, Translated by Rashad Khalifa, Islamic Productions, Tucson, 1989,

    p 609).

    Nineteen, as the mathematical code of the Quran, is a challenge for

    atheists, an invitation for agnostics and a guidance for believers. It is a

    perpetual miracle for the computer generation. It is the light of the

    morning promised by God Almighty (74:33).

    Physical, examinable divine proof

    Here is the summary of this historical discovery:

    © The first verse, i.e., the opening statement "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim",

    shortly "Basmalah," consists of 19 Arabic letters.

    © The first word of Basmalah, Ism (name) occurs in the Quran 19 times.

    © The second word of Basmalah, Allah (God) occurs 2698 times, or 19x142.

    © The third word of Basmalah, Rahman (Gracious) occurs 57 times, or 19x3.

    © The fourth word of Basmalah, Rahim (Merciful) occurs 114 times, or 19x6.

    Although this phenomenon (the opening statement consists of 19 letters, and

    each word occurs in multiple of 19) represents a minute portion of the

    code, it was described by Martin Gardner in the Scientific American as

    "ingenious" (September, 1981, p. 22-24)

    © The multiplication factors of the words of the Basmalah (1+142+3+6) add

    up to 152 or 19x8.

    known today did not exist. A universal system was used where the letters of

    the Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek alphabets were used as numerals. The

    number assigned to each letter is its "Gematrical Value." The numerical

    values of the Arabic alphabet are shown below:

    A study on the gematrical values of about 200 attributes of God which are

    mentioned in the Quran, shows that only four names have gematrical values

    which are multiples of 19. These are "Wahid" (One), "Zul Fadl al Azim"

    (Possessor of Infinite Grace), "Majid" (Glorous), "Jaami" (Summoner). Their

    gematrical value are 19 , 2698, 57, and 114 respectively, which are all

    divisible by 19 and correspond exactly to the frequencies of occurrence of

    the Basmalah's four words.

    © The total numbers of verses where the word Allah (God) occurs add up to

    118123, and is 19x6217.

    © The total occurrences of the word Allah (God) in all the verses whose

    numbers are multiples of 19 is 133, or 19x7.

    © The first revelation (96:1-5) consists of 19 words.

    chapters is 114, which equals the number of chapters in the Quran. "The

    Quran" is mentioned in the Quran 57 times. The description of the Quran as

    "Majid" (Glorious) is correlated with the frequency of occurrence of the

    letter "Q" in each of the Q-initialed chapters. The word "Majid" has a

    gematrical value of 57. Chapter 42 consists of 53 verses, and 42+53 is 95,

    or 19x5. Chapter 50 consists of 45 verses, and 50+45 is 95, or 19x5. The

    number of Q's in all ver-ses numbered "19" throughout the Quran is 76, or

    19x4.

    11, 12, 19, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 99, 100, 200, 300, 1000, 2000,
