Do you like Imam Ali (as)?

I mean he was the cousin and son-in-law of our Prophet Mohammad.

He was also the first male to enter Islam at the age of 10. He was also designated by the Prophet as one of the scribes who would write down the text of the Koran.

Do you also respect him as much as Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman Ibn Affan?

Thanks for your answers =)

  1. I make no distinction between Ali RAA and any other sahaba.  I respect them all equally.

  2. Yes to all of your question. But we won't call him AS because this is generally associated with Prophets.

We won't consider him infallible, we do accept your idea of imamat. We do not seek help from anybody beside Allah.

By the way, do you love and respect Lady Ayesha who is mother of believers?? Who was very beloved to Prophet Mohammed PBUH, daugheter of his Al Siddeeq. I hate those who disrespect Ayesha RA.

  3. love anbiya' equally...

  4. 'Course!!

We should...doesn't mean that if we're Sunni and we don't believe what Shia say is right that we don't like Ali...

  5. Yes ofcource sister, Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) is not only the one of the great compaions of Messenger of All (SAW), he is also the cousion and the son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah (SAW).

so ofcource we muslims do/MUST love and respect him. sister i was to correct you that we dont say PEACE BE UPON for the compaions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW), rather we say MAY ALLAH BE PLEASED WITH HIM, PEACE BE UPON HIM is used for the Prophet (PBUT) only.

Sister I have been a muslim for about 4 years now and no where in my knowledge, we are tought (in Quran and Hadith) that Ali(R.A) is our imam.

Ali (RA) isnt the first male muslim, yes he is the first child male muslim. Abu Bakr (RA) according to the books for Serrah is the 1st male Muslim.

sister our Prophet (SAW) warned us against the innvocations and against the sects, so we should be carefull. Sister Quran and hadith are the best guidence so we MUST stick to that. :) sister there is a hadith that the Prohet (saw) said that we must not saying anything bad aginst the SAHABIES (RAH), even if we gave gold= half the mount hud, we won't come to the half way where the Sahabies were (as to paity). When i read this hadith i cried from my heart, as i realise the truth of Islam. Allah (SWT) know this will happen that's why he made our Prophet (Saw) say these words.

sister if we don't follow the Quran and the Hadith, i dont think there's much difference between us and the kufar.

    May Allah guide us all---Ameen

  6. When Allah is Razi From Ahlibayt E muhammad ..

Ali (as) fatima(sa)Hassan (as) Hussain (as)

Why we shouldnt Use Alahi sallam...

اللهم صل على محمد ؤال محمد کما صلیت على ابراهیم ؤال ابراهیم انک حمید مجید

  7. like him? we Sunnis consider him the 5th greatest person

  8. Are u kidding? Im not gonna lie. I know im not supposed to say this, but I respect him more than all of them. In Afg. sunnis sing songs about hazrat Ali (AS) all the time, and name their kids after him. Its probably one of the few countries, where we really see no difference between shia and sunni and there is some inexplainable admiration to Hazrat Ali more than others.  I will be honest, I respect Hazrat Ali (AS) more than the other caliphs and yes im a Sunni.

lol  roa jaan.  to kheyli shireen azizam.

btw. to others.  I dont agree with the whole (AS) thing. He was a close relative of the prophet, i dont understand why not say (AS) after his name!! peace!!

  9. i like and respect them  Aboobaker (R) Umar (R) Uzman (R) Ali (R)

    and hazrat hassan and hussain(RA)

  10. The salawat darood says A.S on ahlubait

allahumma salli ala muhammed wa aale muhammed

so ali is from aale muhammed

so there should be no objection to use a.s for ahlubait.

  11. We Love Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a) .He is the 4th Great Companion of Prophet Muhammad(p.b.u.h).

    @ Happily Happy

There is no Concept/Doctrine/Idea  of Imamah(i.e. divine appointment) in Islam as shia believe. The doctrine of Imamah is Kufr.

The first 11 Imams were pious individuals who were a part of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah; they had nothing to do with the Shia.

None of them claimed Imamah(i.e. divine appointment) as the Shia claim, because this would be accusing them of being Dajjals, and they were innocent of that.

  12. yes

  13. I am a Muslim.... I respect Aboobaker (R) Umar (R) Uzman (R) Ali (R)

    as equal.......  as Khaleefah...

  14. AL HAMDULILLAH I LOVE all the sahaba of the prophet. i am not a shia but i love Ali (ra)too. i agree that Ali (ra)first child to accept islaam but abu bakr(ra)is the first man to accept islam. how come you shia come to hate abu bakr so much. ali was the cosin and abu bakr was the closest friend. ali was the 4th khaleefa and abu bakr was the 1 khaleefa. dont tell abu bakr took that post by force. it was the prophet who made abu baker the leader of al-hajj. it was the prophet who made abu bakr the leader of salah and was displeased to see omer prayed in abu bake's absence. he wantd only abu baker to lead the salah. btw abu baker was the dad in law of the prophet and was respected by ali the most. when ali(ra) during the khilafa asked the people 'who is the strongest of men?' the people replied 'it's you o ameerul mu'minee' ali said it's true that i never lost a duel but abu baker is the strongest of men. when the prophet was been beatenup in the mosq it was only abu baker who dared to go and protect the prophet. then he said who is better is it mu'minal firown(pple avout allah says in soorat al ghafir they were believers frm the tribe of firowm)or abu baker? the pple remained silent then he said one second of abu baker on the eart is more valuable than the entire  life of mu'minal firown.

this was the love of ali to abu baker. how could you chose to follow ali and dislike abu baker.

we as sunni muslims love and respect all the sahaba of rasooullah even mu'aawiya he was the bro in law of the prophet. why dont u like him???????

@asker: i agree there is no wrong in using as after his name. you are asking Allah to give peace to him and he needs peace more than any1 cuz he's in the grave and the grave is not easy. i agree but the excuse that you gave is lame. he was a close ralative of the prophet makes no sence cuz abu baker was a close relative as well an so was omar. both of them were dad in laws of  the prophet. mu'aawiya was the bro in law of the prophet why dony youn say as after his name. i sed i agree it can be sed but y only to ali(karram allahu wajoh)

  15. definitley !!!!!!!!

  16. I respect all of the followers of the Prophet (PBUH). I think he is a wonderful role model!

    Nichole

  17. they say they do, but than how come everytime we (Shia Muslims) talk about him or Imam Hussain's (AS) life story, we get like 15-20 thumbs down....interesting isnt it?

    like this

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

but hey, they love him as they claim

  18. Yes why not !!!!!!!!

We respect all of the Sahabas (Khaleefas) equally .

the best thing we Sunnis do is that we dont care about the things that happened after the live of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

    EDIT :

Oh .......... i forgot to mention that A.S (Allay Salaam) is only said with names of the Prophets not Sahabas (Prophets Companions).

We say R.A (Razi Allah unho ) with the names of the Sahabas .......which means that Allah has declared them Jannathi .

  19. AssalamuAleykum

Yes i like him , and respect more than other imams.

    And I'm not a Shia.

Btw, he is Ali (r.a.) not (a.s.) . (a.s.) or (a.w.) Is used about prophets only exept hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.) . Sometimes it's written as (s.a.s.) too.

  20. yes of course, he was a great man.

  21. I really don't understand what we could have against Ali(ra) seriously? Are you serious? No I do not hate any sahaba, when there is no reason to hate a companion of our beloved Prophet. They all made great Kaliphat and the all hot the utmost admiration for the Prophet.

Maybe you mean...(becuase I have never seen any Sunni hate on sahaba or household of Muhammad(saw). and I am just guessing, is does it make us angry that shia revere him more than other sahaba, my answer is no it doesn't. Of course when the admiration for him becomes inapropriate I do my best to guide the person suitably and warn them of the sin of shirk.

We love Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, I would see no reason to not like them as our Prophet spent much of the latter part of his life with them and loved them. How could I hate them? No, never. That is to go against the prophet who countless times mentioned the dearness of his companions to him. How could I hate anyone Muhammad(saw) loved. How could I truly love him if I ever took to hating something that was dear to him. We hear Muslims say the worst things about particularly Umar(ra) and Aisha(ra) and it seriously, makes me sad in the pit of my stomach. Umar(ra) a warrior and fighter for Islam! Aisha(ra) his beloved wife whom is the top woman narrator of hadith of Islam. How could I hate those who have contributed so much to what I know today and what was passed down from Muhammad(saw) just like I could never hate such a great sahaba as Ali, and I hate to make differenciation between Sahabah, they loved eachother.

There is no chance I could ever disrespect any of the sahaba, that would be so low and so against what I believe as a Muslim. That to me, is not Islam.

We do not use (as) for Sahaba, rather (ra) for them and (as) for Prophets.
