Question:

Must I match my wood furniture to my baseboard molding?

I have light wood molding and want to purchase a TV/entertainment stand and end tables in a darker wood, possibly as dark as cherry wood. I have a light green/fern color on the walls and a very neutral beige couch. I think a darker wood will provide a nice contrast. Do I need to choose lighter furniture? I do not really want to replace the molding...I would rather choose different, lighter furniture, if necessary.

Thanks!

  1. I live in a oooold huge victorian house. Wood is EVERYWHERE!!! We have wood stairs and wood baseboards wooden doors and frames.. wooden everything. The only thing thats NOT wooden is the ceiling and walls. Our living room has medium brown wood and the furniture is dark brown. It has a nice contrast and it matches because we have different shades of brown. Like in a bedroom, to have different shades of pink or red cuz it matches. Wood matches wood. No matter what. Your 'house' wood should be about the same shade and your furniture can be another one or two shades.. so, it'll all look good, no matter what =)

  2. The answer in a nutshell is "no" you do not have to match your furniture to your baseboard molding.

  3. if you want a nice contrast for your concept, floor and moulding is light color and all furniture dark color so one look is nicer, you will get cozy feel at your space.
