I got my lip pierced about a week ago, and it was fine, a little sore, but it was fine. Then about two days ago it puffed right up, really big as i got up in the moring, and it had swolled up the back end of the piercing...2 days later, and after a painful sleep (as it stings) i wake up to find its swollen to a huge size, and i cant really talk that well...I cant even see the actual piercing now as it has been "swallowed".

I clean it all the time, and rinsed after eating like the lady said. The only thing i did which i maybe shouldnt have done, was kiss my boyfriend, but i cleaned afterwords.

Im in alot of pain, and I was wondering what i should do....???

  1. Get straight to a doctor TODAY. If he's not available go to the emergency room. An infection is serious, especially in the face/ mouth area. You'll need drugs to treat it. Untreated infections can lead to blood poisoning and worse.

  2. piercings are nastyyyy

ye its infected go get some help before your whole mouth is infected...:/

  3. Go to the doctors for antibiotics, but if you really cant or wont then...

TCP! dilute it in a glass big enough to get your lip in, then put your lip in, making sure the piercing is totally submerged. Yes it is tricky, but possible! leave it in for about 2 minuites, and repeat 3 or 4 times a day, especially after eating. Only dring water, dont chew gum or generally put anything in your mouth and DO NOT touch the piercing, hands are germy things, sit on them if the urge is too strong!

Kissing your boyfriend doesnt cause an infection unless he's really icky! Don't use salt water, it will just stop it healing it wont clear the infection.

  4. it is infected that is for sure,  If neosporin does not help after a few hours than you should go to a doctor.  There isn't much else you can put on a swelling like that besides neosporin.  Unless you know a herb doctor.

  5. a lot is two words - just had to say that.  I spent 2 weeks in the hospital because of a little spot on my chin which was invisable except it hurt really bad. Turned out it was a MRSA infection which several days on antibiotics didn't help at all.  My whole bottom of my face got all swollen up to my ears and I looked like a chimpanzee.  I touched one spot and it open up and dripped crud all down my chin and on the left side of my mouth I have a bunch of really deep wrinkles that have not gone away.  I am still getting little pimples on my chin that are scarring but so far no return of the infection.  My doctor said I was lucky to live as infections around your lips and nose can easily go up to your brain and kill you.  So, don't let it go, see a good skin Dr. fast and good luck to you.
