Hi. I remembered that i sniffed like a small pouch of cocaine 2 or 3 years ago. And i heard that i must tell the doctor if i took any illegal drugs in my life. Should i admit it? i heard also that by now the drugs that i inhaled has flushed out of my system cause its been 3 years now and no evidence of the drug is in my body now. Thanks

  1. Marijuana is the only form of drug that you can get a waiver for, my opinion, And lets just say I dont condone this ;-), Dont mention it!! Many people disagree with this, but they arent the ones in the postion. Most recruiters will tell you, and once again I dont condone it ;-), the only answer you need to give at MEPS are No, Never and None. good luck

  2. I wouldn't. I know experimental MJ use is ok, but cocaine might be treated differently depending on the branch. I know everyone is going to encourage you to be honest, blah blah blah. But unless you are going for a top secret clearance, I wouldn't say anything. Assuming it was only ONE time, I'd let it go. Don't put references on your SF-86 that would know about this. The military talks a lot about integrity. And I think people should be honest in the enlistment process. You made a bad decision one time 3 years ago.

Now, which branch are you going to serve in? If it is Army or Marine Corps, I know they give drug waivers all the time. Maybe it won't be a big deal. I'd talk frankly to your recruiter. See what he says.

Edit: I see you are going in as a linguist. It might require a top secret clearance. This could be a problem. Call your recruiter.

  3. There's no way for them to find out now, but if you are still doing drugs, the military will crush you once you are in.  Think about it carefully.
