Must i replace all wood that has been infested with termites?

when remodling a house is it necessary to replace all of the wood that has been infested with termites. For example if a 2x4 has only minor damage on the bottom half must i replace the entire 2x4 in order to keep the termites from returning.

  1. Everything everyone else said, and adding that there is likely damage on the inside of the wood that you are unable to see with just your eyes.


  2. you could cut off the bottom but if this is a framing 2x4 i suggest replacing the whole thing

  3. yes replace any and all wood that has ben hit by termites, and if poss have someone spray for termites also

  4. If u want to replace, then do so because all new will be more durable than the old ones infested with termites. A small tip- in future, apply clove oil coats to wooden furniture, it will avoid termite-bites. Even neem-oil will do. This will surely rid you of termites.

  5. yes your must replace all wood but you must be careful when removing it so as the termites dont drop off and spread and burn the timber bunnings sell a termite product that you can spray the area with
